Hi, it’s my first post here, even though I have been looking around for some time now.

So I'm putting together a tool set. I already have some sockets ( cman) , and I've already ordered snap on drivers for those. Next I'm planning on buying some wrenches ( in both imperial and metric sizes). so I want to ask you guys to give your opinions on the brands I can get ( i'm living in mexico). My choices include: proto, cman, cman pro, snap on ( my local dealer also carries bluepoint and irimo) and stahlwille.

so which wrench do you think is better???

thanks

I think the best bang for the buck would be the Cman pro
to me the best overall is the snap on

Better???

Best bang for the buck......probably Cman pro.

The best.....depends on what you like. They are all good wrenches.
I think the bluepoints are overpriced unless you are getting truck warranty service.

Urrea is a division of Proto, or at least was at one time, and they should have very good quality wrenches and may have a better price.

crewchief888 makes a good point....if you think you may need to warranty something then try to make it convenient for you.

Also, you can use the search function and you should be able to find many threads concerning wrenches and should be able to find some good comparison pictures also.

ive been buying tols for 35 years or so, and ive always bought from wherever or whoever i got the best "service" from.
most of my home tools are CM, and a few kobalt, sears, lowes & HD are 10 min away
work tools are all truck brands, because they come to me at least once a week, and if i need something they are a phone call away.
until about 6-8 months ago, tool trucks were hit and miss, so when i needed something, i could usually grab a CM pro and be satisfied.
i now have a steady SO dealer, no reason to run to sears for anything now.

it's all about convienence for me, and what i need a tool for.

snap-on,nothing even comes close.you'll save yourself a lot of busted knuckles if you just go with the best right from the start. not to mention the rounded nuts and bolts you'll have to deal with when the cheapo wrenches slip.

i'd buy whatever brand is most convienent for you to purchase, and get warranties should the need arise.

 Warranties are only as good as the nearest dealer!
That's what made Craftsman what it is. If you broke something, there was always a Sears close by.

Your living in Mexico, but are you a national? Or are you someone who is living in one of the retirement area's that try to bring in foreign retiree's? Work in a shop, or is this home hobby stuff?

There are going to be different answers, if you have to drive across the border, every time you need something warrantied, to if your retired, and working on one toy, etc. (value for the cost)

sorry for the slow repy, I'm having some problems with my internet conection. ok i'm going to answer some of the questions. I'm a Mexican living in Mexico. These are going ot be only for hobby use, my work stuff is provided by the company ( mustly urrea stuff btw), and then again I really don't need tools at work.

now as far as I know most of urrea tools are made in mexico and their tools have a much better quality than the chinese stuff you can get in mexico, but i would like something a little better. I'm a fan of the buy once method of shopping. Some Proto tools were made in mexico in the past, my dad has a mexican made proto wrench set, but i don't think that's the case anymore.

The Best wrench is Snap-On the best for the money IMO is Craftsman Pro. For limited funds the craftsman standards work just fine. It's hard to beat a 9pc wrench set for 15 dollars that carries a lifetime warranty, has very good quality and will get the job done. I know lots of guys that make a living using them every day

Funny that someone's mentioned Stanley...

The Craftsman Pro wrenches are fantastic.

That said, I happened across these a few years ago:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NIFJZA/?tag=atomicindus08-20
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NIFJZU/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Full polish, long pattern, GREAT wrenches. That said, they seem to be officially discontinued from Stanley. When I tried to order the matching 6mm, 7mm, 15/16" and 1" from Stanley's website, they sent me Blackhawk wrenches instead, which are NOT long pattern.

Apparently, they've restructured the line, so that the Stanley name is the Home/DIY line, and Blackhawk or Proto are the "Pro" lines.

The matching Stanley Professional wrenches to fill out the set can be had via http://www.globalindustrial.com (PM me for the part numbers if you're interested).

Great long-pattern wrenches, half the price of the Craftsman Professional - not that there's ANYTHING wrong with the Craftsman Pros.

Stanley's product info is here:

http://www.stanleytools.com/default...TEGORY=87-244&strSiteName=&strDefaultCatalog=
http://www.stanleytools.com/default...TEGORY=87-245&strSiteName=&strDefaultCatalog=

(Edit: They're made in China or Taiwan -pretty sure it's China...)

(Edit #2: Global Industrial is apparently out of the 15/16")
