My neighbor has a lockset that the ID of the square recess in the handles that the square shaft goes though has worn to the point it flops around quite a bit. I have no easy way to build up the brass material inside of the handles to fix this so I need to replace them. The locksets have zero stampings or markings on them anywhere, nor do the doors. These doors are part of a sunroom that was built by a local company back around 2004 and they are sadly no longer in business to try to get info on the door or lockset manufacturer. I know they make similar locksets but this one has a separate deadbolt and latching mechanism as you'll see. I did try to 3D print some spacers to take up a bit of slack in the ID of the plate where the handles ride and that helped a bit. I also tried some aluminum foil to increase the ID of the square drive to take up some of that wear in the handles and it helped a tad also but not enough. I'm out of ideas at this point aside from cutting up the door and putting this new style in which she nor I want to do. Any help/input would be appreciated.

can you drill & tap a hole in the edges of the handles to put in a set screw that would jamb the shaft to the handles?
That is a great idea and I do believe the shaft goes far enough into the handle to do so. If I have to go that route I will. Overall they do need to be replaced however. The other one is not only lose like this one it is severely oxidized. I'm certainly not going to polish it for her.

Have you asked any local glass companies ? That would be my first stop if Home Depot didnt have anything. I really dont think those things have changed that much over the years and I doubt that it was anything custom made.

I have the same issue on our kitchen storm door. It's an Anderson door over 15 years old. I looked and looked, pretty much gave up. Many are discontinued.

As a temporary fix I took the handle apart and flipped the outside handle 180 degrees. This allows gravity to take over and latch the door. It was getting blown open with the wind constantly. Looks a little funny but it works!

I use a local hardware distributor that has been in business since 1912. I avoid the Big Box Store that can sell low priced locksets cheaper than my local guy can buy them for. Their resources and service have saved my bacon many times. More than once they have been able to sell me a "closed out" major brand item at unbeatable prices.
"Real Locksmiths" are better to deal with than Big Box Minimum Wage Employees.

Sorry guys I'll get back with info tomorrow. It's my neighbors house and i had to put it back together for now. I did look all through the big box stores as well as ebay/amazon and didn't find a thing. It seems lose going both ways to be honest so flipping the handle won't do much. Maybe ill check our ace hardware. I don't know if we have any glass stores around here and I'm curious why they would have something like this.

It looks like this is just a standard knob and deadbolt mechanism with a spread escutcheon/backplate on one side. If that's true you could replace with standard knob and deadbolt.

Emtek has one of the largest selections of mid level handle sets out there that can generally be purchased by retail

Scuff and clean the inside of the handle, pour a small amount of JB Weld in and make sure it's completely coated. Grease the square spindle and push it all the way in. Remove the excess after it has cured a bit but before it gets too hard.

I actually thought about doing this but I wasn't sure the best material to use that is thin enough that would NOT stick to the JB weld. The set screw idea is a much cleaner solution to this if I cannot find a replacement.

Appreciate all the ideas guys!!

Looks Italian. eBay for parts. Of call Functional Fenestration Inc in Santa Monica, CA.
I put in hundreds of those.
Any idea what I can search for to find the actual cylinder the square shafts go into? Is there a name for this design? The handle actually bolts to this cylinder so I could replace just that cylinder and call it good. I just went through their swing door hardware catalog and all they have in there are 1 piece latch/lock mechanisms. This one has the deadbolt in a separate mortice than the latching mechanism.

I wasn’t sure about that either, I also thought it was funny that they did not recommend their own product

May be a locksmith would be a reasonable phone call to make as this seems to be a common problem?

(Tho this is for a neighbor, and he know how no good deed…..)
