A friend had two and offered one up to me. Im pretty stoked. I drove 2300 miles over 4 days to pick it up. Can't wait to get it cleaned up. Any helpful hints / checks would be greatly appreciated. I've wanted a SnapOn box for a long time. Thanks in advance.

I hope he gave you a hell of a deal, because the fuel bill was bound to be large to go pick it up. Nice box!

As far as hints, just clean it up, and use it. Try to avoid the addiction as best as you can, I think I have 4 of them now and have been a user for 30 years. Before that I was using my dads. My dad is getting ready to give his big box and tools to my 17 yo son, the addiction continues.

No kidding. At today's gas prices, you paid a pretty penny to retrieve that thing. I was on a road trip this weekend in the Defender for a funeral and I LoL'd when all the gas stations I stopped at shut the pumps off at $125.00.

Nice. I had one of the first Macans, a 2015 that I spec'd on deployment and picked up when I got home. Drove it for a year and 13,000 miles when I traded it in on a 911 and got $2K less then I paid. 'Twas a good deal of my own.

Nice box! No real tips or tricks, other then taking a look at the "show us your toolbox" thread for organizing ideas.

Or if you want instant box envy, jump into the epiq box thread.

The KLR boxes are nice -- have the same deep box w/o the extra row of drawers. That's a beast !

Does it have the steel metal top ? I guess mine is SS

Mine has the metal top w/ the optional rubber mat. I find it's a bit too tall to really work on --- it's more of an inspection height and when I'm putting something together. It's overkill for my needs but I got a great deal on a couple of snap on boxes back in 08 that I could not pass up.

Snap on has a real game going on. You buy them because they are so well built and then you stick a heavy metal top on it to protect the basic top -- then protect that with a rubber mat

So I have restored a bunch of USA made toolboxes as a hobby over the years. Nothing quite this new. I would pull all the drawers and get the inside all squared away. Lube up the slides and the lock.

Then get started on each drawer one at a time. I used Simple Green to cut the grease, then TSP to get it rinsed. I have never tried Pledge before but it sounds intriguing. I use a simple ICE car wax on the outside of the box and the outside of each drawer. I apply it to a rag for the drawer sides and bottoms.

The top drawer looks a bit out of whack so be careful when remove it. It might be tweeked a bit.

Looks like a great box. Spend the time getting it squared away and you will make it last a long time. Gratz!

That's an interesting top, I assume it's owner built with the rear overhang, looks well constructed.
Anyway nice score.
Side note, used to use Pledge for shining up my motorcycles back in the day, I think there's still a can in the garage.

I have a similar one in black with a stainless top. It's a heavy sumbitch before you start loading it.

If I interpreted the cost post right, it's worthy of a "You ****". While I realize few pay it, retail on those runs $13-14K now.

I did get the proverbial "You're going to Pennsylvania for a toolbox?" comment. Then I showed the current retail price…. not a peep after that. The top is nice, I'll eventually clean it up a bit. I don't think I'll recondition it though, as it has a nice patina. It just rests on top of the box. Thanks for the inputs, I am pretty happy. Now I have to figure what to put in it.

Nice box. :beer:I spent 400 shipping my snap on top box from Austin to n e Missouri. It was in rough shape but had sentimental value.

My brother drove from Austin to somewhere in Indiana to buy an old coke machine years ago. :wtf:

Nice box and nice Mustang. What you doing to it?
Just realized I didn't answer :) Its a 67 GTA fastback that was rode hard. Dad and I have been working on it for a couple years. The restoration plan changed as we got into it…. they don't call them mustangs for no reason…lol. New rear quarters, floors, and doors along with some "wow" look at all that bondo. We finally got that about done. Plan is a resto mod with new front suspension, brakes and steering along with a 428CJ and TKO 5 speed. Original color was Dark Highland Green and Avocado green interior. When he bought the car, it was White/Red interior. Somewhere in its life it was painted Brittany Blue too, as we found that color doing the body work. All in all its been a journey. Time spent with Dad is priceless though :)IMG_2475.JPG

I’m working with my son on his 4eye notch back. First steps on what looks to be a long restomod journey. I’m sensing a-lot of might as wells along the way but definitely worth the time with him.
