Older Craftsman tool chest no longer needed

I have this older, non- ball bearing slides, 18" deep bottom and 12" top Craftsman tool chest set I no longer need or have room for. It has some surface rust on one corner of the lid.
I don't want to sell it as it cost me nothing when I received it. (No it's not stolen)
Any suggestions what I should do with it? Habitat for humanity, salvation army, Goodwill? What would you do?

I have a nephew. He doesn't want it. The box was originally my nephews grandfathers on his father's side. When he pass away, my father wound up with the box somehow. I have had the box for almost 20 years.

The tool chest would be a wonderful gift for a new Votech school graduate. You must have a Votech school in your area. Please don't give it to the organizations you mentioned. Habitat doesn't need it, and the others will put it up for sale on eBay, most likely, or just charge as if brand new. Or, to a high school program student. I hope you take your time with giving it. It would be such a boon to anyone receiving the tool box..

As I've out grown my CM tool boxes some were given to my son(s) and some were repurposed for specific repairs i.e.: plumbing or electrical or gun maintenance etc. GoodWill would probably take them and sell them in their store

I don't give ANYTHING to Goodwill. It's just a smart marketing name that made a guy rich. I don't even know if they actually help anybody?? I also agree with what was stated about Ebay. Anymore, the Salvation Army is bad about just listing anything of value and selling online.....unless it's too big to ship. Then they make a copy of a screenshot of what some wishful thinker is asking for a like item and ask for that same outrageous price!

When my first true roller was no longer big enough I contemplated buying a bigger one but then I wondered what I would do with my old one and just couldn't think of getting rid of it because it was a gift from my mom when I was a teen. I ended up getting another one about the same size, then another, then a large top chest I built a rolling storage cabinet base for, and recently a 5 drawer mechanics cart.
I dread the day I decide to downsize but I know that old red craftsman my mom got me wont be going anywhere.

When did this become OK? On any given day in my neighborhood there are at least three examples of 'gutter junk' festering at the curb. Headboards, computer desks, appliances, you name it, just because the owners are too lazy or cheap to take responsibility for disposal.

No believe me something like a headboard or a dresser I'd be all over I'm a woodworker and I use that as reclaimed woodworking stock often times there's some very nice Walnut or oak on those old pieces.

Depends what you put at the curb, furniture and that type of stuff usually sits as nobody wants it, especially after it gets rained on the first time. Metal scrap or large appliances usually get picked up by scrappers rather quickly if scrap rates are high enough.

A tool box I wouldn't sit at the curb.... first thought to a thief, someone got a bigger tool box or they have tools to steal.

Good for the OP finding a home for the nice looking Cman box.

House in the next street had a desk sit at the curb for THREE MONTHS... & it was right next to a sprinkler.

I had set out a large bucket of scrap aluminum and some ferrous metal with a free sign on it. It was still there two days later, so today it went into the large trash can and will be picked up tomorrow.

Someone in my neighborhood put an old CM self-propelled mower at the curb with FREE + RUNS note on it. Five years later that CM mower starts every spring without any difficulty. Maybe I'll change the oil, add a new spark plug and take a peek at the blade this week.

Yes, really. I’ve never seen anything still at the end of my drive by the time I get home from work and on weekends, it’s gone by lunch. Lawnmowers, a tractor, old toolboxes, Smaller stuff goes to the local Spanish mission that hands it out to needy people. If people want it, It’s a lot better than filling up the local landfill.
