Hello everyone, I'm in the market for 6" belt/10" disc sander. Does anyone have any suggestions on brand and model? I'll be using it periodically, not every day. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.
i have this one i picked up at KBC tool in elk grove village.
they were really nice people to deal with.
it's imported, but has held up fine for the past couple years.
it's not a "precision" instrument by any means.

Thank you crewchief, looks like a decent machine. That is exactly what I'm looking for.![]()

model # 9648
shipping weight is stated at 140 lbs
they are located on bussy (sp) hwy a couple blocks north of landmier rd.
i think the woman that i talked to was named michelle
i scrapped the stand that was provided (it was way too low for my preferences) and used an existing stand and furniture mover for a base i already had laying around
they also have belts and disks in stock, if they dont have it they have a couple other locations they can pull stock from, took a couple days for everything i ordered to get to elk grove.
for me, it was worth taking the day off and making the drive from NWI to save in shipping 400+ lbs of stuff...

Thank you again. I'm not terribly far from Elk Grove, I'd just go pick it up too.![]()

Thank you crguy, would you happen to know a model number?

I have been fortunate to find them in the $200-$300 range, but usually they are more.
toolscrounge - The Rockwell in your photo is my dream shop sander.
But like I said above, you'll find the Craftsman ones 100 to 1 of the Rockwells, and again, 1/5 or even less the $.
Lastly, even though they do not have the Rockwell cool factor, not as heavy duty, smaller lighter disk, only one table, the Cman is way more than adequate for 99% of folks home shop use.

So would I be correct in saying there is a version of that sander WITHOUT the disc? Seen one on the local CL...burnt out my Grizzly sander and now i'm in the market... I kinda would have picked up that rockwell, but not sure how useful the disc would be (if i'd miss it)

I like the.older Craftsman belt grinders that have the exposed screw adjust for belt tracking better than the later more common ones with with the cam adjust. The cam version has less sensitivity and is harder to get the tracking correct on the few I have used.
I have been looking for a Craftsman 6x48 belt/ 9"disc sander on and off for a couple of years. The ones I have found are way over priced !But like I said above, you'll find the Craftsman ones 100 to 1 of the Rockwells, and again, 1/5 or even less the $.

I have a 31-710 that’s missing some items. It runs but I think I had rather sell it as is to someone who needs parts or has parts they can add to this one. 100$ but I don’t pay for shipping.Rockwell Delta 31-710 6x48 belt and 1`2" disk sander.

Thanks new at this. Learning may be old threads but there’s lots of good information in them.Try posting in the classifieds section first..... or ebay. Trying to sell in a discussion thread is usually not allowed on many forums (that's why forums have classified sections), especially uselessly bumping an old *** thread. That's usually what scammers do. Not saying you're a scammer but this is not the way to do it.
