I am looking at this air compressor for sale but I know nothing about it besides it being 3 phase. I can't find any info on psi or cfm. Anyone know anything?

Definitely interesting. I would love to find out more just for the history. I am just looking for something for air tools that wont wake up my whole neighborhood and not run out of oomph in no time.

I have also put in an interest in a big 40cfm single piston 3 phase one that is no longer used at my work but I am looking at other alternatives as that one is ridiculously loud.

As mentioned, that is probably a controls or fire supression compressor. They're quiet, but low CFM and low pressure (like, 60 PSI max sorta thing)
As far as a 40 CFM piston compressor goes, that's going to have at least a 15HP motor on it. If you put a VFD on it, you're going to be consuming 60-70A of 240v single phase current to run it

If it's for pressurizing a sprinkler system, there should be some fire-equipment rated ID on it, somewhere.

Agree Gast, not necessarily low presure, some go to 125 but low volume. Repairs are expensive due to part prices. Heads are aluminum, moisture is an issue as it causes corrosion which creeps under head seal and stainless valves. Avoid this
