Good thing I don't work on GMs haha. Seriously though, why? They are too aggressive and take off the aluminum causing surfaces to not seal? The abrasive I'm using on the roloc is specifically setup for working on aluminum and allegedly safe for all gasket surfaces on an aluminum motor. I do know you need to be selective though. Is there another reason?
The engine manufacturer I worked for didn’t recommend the Roloc either, specifically with aluminum components and mls head gaskets.

The Roloc basically destroys the surface finish and flatness of the mating surface.

And we weren’t GM.

I doubt any engine manufacturer recommends Roloc to clean the mating surface.

Jim Bob continues to do it, though.

Anyone have a good price for the m12 1/4" hex fuel driver? Kicking myself for not getting the kit for 99 during HD holiday sales.
If you're okay with the older style, I've got an extra one brand new I picked up as part of a kit last year that I never got around to posting on FB marketplace. Shoot me a message, maybe we can work something out.

I'd definitely be wary of using abrasives for that application. I'm old-school, razor blades are probably all I'd use.

Father's day is on the 19th this month so the sales will probably start in another week or so.

As far s using a razor blade on aluminum I think you are WAY more likely to gouge the aluminum and damage the sealing surface than you are when using a proper abrasive. I've put scratches into aluminum sealing surfaces with a fresh razor blade a few times. I'm using something similar to this:
The abrasive is setup to be safe for aluminum. I did my entire 4.6L V8 with the smaller version of these and I haven't had a single leak in over a year now. I do know you need to be careful because the debris goes everywhere when you use these so I always cover the open cavity before I whip out the RA die grinder to clean up surfaces but it saves so much time and frustration. I'm fairly confident that if you are using the right type of media on your roloc, it is totally safe. Maybe my trust is misplaced though?

So a heads up to Milwaukee folks.

CPO had stopped carrying Milwaukee a while back. I got an email this morning showing 3 Milwaukee products.

E.g.:

I am not saying this is a Hot Deal, just pointing out that this large vendor seems to be moving back into Milwaukee.

Interestingly, if you do shop by brand Milwaukee is not shown, and if you look at power tools the brand menu on the side does not include Milwaukee.

I did a global search for Milwaukee and hit 75 items.

All seems kind of weird to me...

Also this ebay seller has some interesting open box type Milwaukee items

The 30 degree framing nailer at $289 is a good price on an item that seems like it never goes on sale.

Picked up a set of the strippers also. I'm an electrician by trade and have yet to find a pair of strippers I like all the way around. Maybe these will be it.

Not a pro but I have the Doyle Multipurpose wire Strippers (Taiwan) and like them the best of all I've had. Waiting on the Milwaukee wire Stripper (China) to compare. They're very similar in construction.

Damn, those Knipex look badass! I have the Milwaukee ones and I like them a lot because a much more usable pliar tip on it than most strippers. That Knipex takes it to the next level for sure. I might pick one of those up if I ever loose one of mine. I've got too many strippers now as it is. Also, phrasing?

Napa has a deal for two 6ah batteries and a Milwaukee rebate for a free grinder. It shows $250, but they were $225.
It's in their monthly or quarterly sales flier.

My rebate was approved last week.

Anyone know what the return value would be on the M12 combo with the pin nailer and the OMT? I don't need the drill/driver set but I've been looking for deals on the nailer and the OMT, and I've never done one of the combo/partial return things before - wondering if it's worth a shot.

If this is the kit you are referring to you cannot separate the items and return the drill/driver kit. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...l-Combo-Kit-2598-22-2540-20-2526-20/317457813 You have to look for deals where the tool/battery is added after adding main item to cart, those become the "hackable" deals. FWIW I have all those M12 tools and I'd bet they didn't add up to $519. That being said you can sell the drill/driver kit for about $150,$170 on a really good day on Facebook. Also right now on FB marketplace an(almost) new Fuel Osc tool is $80,I've seen BNIB for $100. And for the record I use one daily ,the Fuel is way better than the (cheaper) non-Fuel

We are cheap and want to buy it on sale

New tool with I think decent demand, so they best sale you are likely to see for several quarters, will be a 10-15% or $ off for a limited time sale on one of the tools sites. Who knows with... :cautious:, inflation, it could cost more in a couple months

...only until the recession...

Yes, I'm kidding. Prices rarely go back after being jacked up under the guise of higher oil and labor costs, regardless of whether or not those drop. Labor rarely drops, other than layoffs.

Anyone know of a good deal on a M18 Cordless Inflator?

ToolBarn has a generic sale going on right now. $25 off $150, $50/$250, and $75/$350. There is $9 shipping under $199, so I probably would try to spend $250. You can then figure you are saving $35 on the next $80, maybe help convince yourself to spend more

expires tomorrow, at 1pm EST. what a strange end time, middle of the day

No deals, but I will tell you it’s worth retail price. I’ve had mine for about a month, it’s night and day better for what I do than the M12 inflator.

I’m as cheap as the next guy, but I use the inflator several times a week at work so I didn’t want to wait.

Can you share how you use it? How often, what pressures, etc.

I use the inflator daily, probably my most used tool in the truck. I manage a fleet of 145 vehicles and 50 trailers, mostly 1/2 ton and 1 ton trucks with some Colorados, Vans, and SUV’s for management. Whenever I come across one of our trucks I don’t see regularly I do a quick inspection and top off the tires, pressures are 35-80 psi. I used to carry two M12 inflators for this and 4 M12 6.0 batteries, now I just carry the single M18 and two 8.0 batteries. The M18 inflator does a series of pressure checks as you approach the set pressure, usually 2-3 then it locks in the final pressure. It also has a cooling fan for the motor and most importantly memory settings (no more starting at 0 and having to adjust every time you turn it on, just select one of the 4 memory settings as a shortcut). I also added a quick disconnect adapter stolen from one of my M12’s.

I’m in the yard while typing this, here is some performance data:
265/70R17 1500 tire from 34 to 37 psi 18 seconds with two stops
265/70R18 2500 tire from 69 to 80 psi 1:42 with three stops
265/70R18 2500 tire from 54 to 80 psi 4:30 with three stops, the fan ran for a minute after completing this tire

The M12 inflator would’ve burned an entire M12 6.0 battery on that last tire (if it even finished it) this M18 with a 8.0 battery is showing 3 bars remaining after those three and a two other four tire top offs earlier in the day. The M12 is great for bikes and occasional use on cars, but not for my commercial use.

Wow, that sounds great! Can you put a chuck for dually tires on it? Can you post a pic of your quick connector?

I was at the Northern Tool & Equipment store in Forest Lake, Minnesota this evening. I happened to see they had the Milwaukee M12 Hatchet chainsaw with battery and charger new in box on clearance for $188.30. I was able to use a $20 off $100 coupon they mail out to save another $20 on top of that. The website still lists this at $269. The Northern Tool item number is 101819. I have no idea if other stores have this on clearance.

I burned up a cordless reciprocating saw the other day trimming branches. I wasn't going to replace the reciprocating saw right now to save the money, but I couldn't pass this deal up. I have looked at the Hatchet on and off for several months, but I couldn't really justify it. I think this will be better than a reciprocating saw except for the inherent dangers of a chainsaw. I have other chainsaws for big tree work, but small trimming doesn't need a full size chainsaw.

That's a decent deal. Think I'd have one by now if I could get a deal like that.

They're slowly rolling out deals on the hatchet I noticed with packages on HD so hopefully I'll get one someday soon.

The Northern Tool website does list the hatchet kit for $269 (item 101819), and the tool only for $189 (item 101818), but they also list a hatchet plus free battery, charger, and bag for $189 (item 113488).

It turns out that there must be a promo on the Hatchet because toolnut.com shows the $189 Hatchet tool only comes with a free battery kit and the bag. It seems the deal I wasn't all that special although the $20 off helps.

the funny thing is the $20 would probably get me over the line. If I generously assign $40 to the battery and $10 for the bag that would imply the hatchet is $139. To me it should be less than $130 to bite.
