I am doing something that I have not done since I guess i was a teenager. Replacing CV joint boots only, separating the axle. Last time I did that, it was on an Olds Toronado.

Axles cost hundreds of dollars back then and you're making $5 an hour. It was a different world for a front drive car.

Did some mowing around the pole barn. Got almost “done” with what I wanted to get done, when the mower went CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK.

Checked it out in the field and found nothing out of the ordinary. Pulled it in the pole barn, pulled the deck, and found this. What are the effing chances?!?!?!!!


That’s ok. I’ve been wanting to pull the deck to wash it out and swap to the mulching blades/mulching kit. That way I can weld up the other deck. Getting tired of these big windrows. I’m hoping the mulching kit helps. I know it will, but still…

Yeah. I burned a belt on my brand new ZT picking up a stick in about the same place. Wicked annoying!

I’ve done some oil changes and stuff so far. Lots of Subaru stuff lol. Also done a few Mitsubishi which I don’t mind as they don’t make me angry like domestic stuff does lol.

I’m just happy because I got a raise. $2 an hour more and if I pass my state inspection test next week I get $2 more dollars. They let me know how much they appreciate everything I do for them like staying late and never ever calling in or missing and always being there when no one else has been and that I let the whole shop use my box when I don’t have too. And he said that even though I’m still young that I’m a great mentor to the younger people and he sees a natural technician in me. Let’s just say I was scared like heck when the boss tapped me on the shoulder saying step into my office. I thought I had messed something up lol. He did tell me yesterday I want to talk to you tomorrow which frightened me then too lol . I respect him very much but now even more. He did give me some advice to just speed up a little bit because I am slow but I acknowledge that and I will work in anyway I can to be more efficient. My main issue is tracking down my stuff because everyone is always using it. So I’ve had my mind on that all day lol. Being happy and now thinking of how I can speed up.

Went in and pulled an old craftsman ratchet I picked up to take pics and send to Craftsman for a replacement.

Pulled out my car wash bucket and micro fibers to do a waterless wash on the car.

Squared off with my 75lb garage dog to cut his nails Once he's flat on the cool concrete floor and in hand, he does ok. Use the nice "guillotine" type cutters. Throws a fit, but you can see they are relieved and more comfortable afterwards. ***no pictures available due to "technical difficulties"***

Well, a guy got tired of laying around waiting to feel better. So he did the right thing and did some strenuous work around the yard and garage.

First, went ahead and pressure washed the decks for the mower. I wanted to clean the one before I put the mulch kit on, then decided to pressure wash the other in prep to start working on it (welding it).


So then while waiting for them to dry, I figured I’d fire up the chainsaw and start clearing part of the yard where the top half of a tree fell.

Chainsaw didn’t fire up (again. Which is why it sat for a few years). Decided to pull it apart. Turns out the accelerator pump/fuel pump diaphragm had a large pinhole in it. It pumped “just enough” for it to “run” but not ENOUGH to run well. It ran lean (ran with the choke closed).

<$5 for a brand new one and I was motorvatin again.

Camaro has been living in there all along, but in the other bay. Need to move it over to get the ST into the bay where the Camaro has been living.

ST is actually a bit shorter than the Camaro, but it's a LOT bigger.

Cut a large hole in a 2X4 scrap to make a fixture to clamp a 2" cast iron pulley in my drill press to try to resize the shaft hole. Amazon reports the 17 mm drill bit has been shipped.

Funny part is roomie has been wanting to get the ST in the garage & the Camaro moved to the other side for a few months. Progress has been slow & that's putting it mildly.
At 5am today she left in the ST with her son (he's driving) to go visit family in Tucson. I pulled the Camaro out of the garage, moved **** around, squeezed the Camaro into the other bay & sent her a pic of it just after 9am.
That bay of the garage has been out of use for vehicles for about 5 ******** years. First there was new flooring throughout the house, a bunch of stuff got moved into the garage for that project.... & stayed there.
Then we had the water leak & the aftermath of that *********** which resulted in even more **** moving into the garage.

The upside is that after a decade of living here I'll be able to "do (more) stuff" in that bay of the garage merely by moving the Camaro outside. Next month the wiring is getting updated to run my 60gal compressor & outlets for my mig, tig & plasma cutter.... altho I won't be doing much welding in a carpeted garage. Gonna pull the carpet from that side pretty soon.

FINALLY got the under-seat rats nest wiring tidied on the ZRX, only been meaning to do it for 2 or 3 years... maybe longer.



Discovered a crack in my *good gas* fuel can while filling it at the fuel island at the airfield... Duct taped the crack & drove off with the can laying on it's side so the fuel wasn't directly on the crack. Been using this jug for 20 years or so, got my money's worth from it.

Drilled the mounting holes in the 2x6's to attach the work bench to the wall & to mount the hose reel. Also reinstalled the cowl cover back on my 05 F-150 after repainting it.

Finished up the Subaru, after a heat cycle it took some more coolant. Holds 194 pretty decent now.

Started painting the inside trim on the garage doors... at least the parts I could do with the doors up.







Then I risked death & flatness by jacking up one side of the fire cabinet to get one of the small (HF) dollies it's sat on more aligned. Which was interesting as there's a bunch of bench vises & other heavy **** in there. Actually had it balanced on one dolly, the jack & a 2x4 at one point & could tilt it by pretty much just looking at it. At least now the weight is on all 8 wheels instead of 6...

Cutting some aluminum. Fabricating a new deck railing. Made up the posts from deck to awning and using rail kits. Farmed out the welding and powder coating. 3"X3" posts 3/16" wall.

When I worked at an FBO I filled many plastic containers with 100LL. More so in airplanes but it was a thing. What are you running it in? I know the era of your bike and vehicles so it has to be an octane thing and not a lead thing.

The garage door repair guy came to install the warranty parts that Geni sent me. Their telephone diagnosis was wrong and parts they sent were the wrong ones.

He had the good stuff on his truck. My garage door opener is now working correctly.

Tried to resize the shaft hole in a Cast Iron pulley, the job is a little more than my 45 year old Taiwan Drill press was designed for. I have the 17 mm Silver & Deming drill bit, but have not figured out how I want to fixture the pulley for drilling.

My poor tractor a John Deere 2305 I had for the past 14 years and never a problem. Well I guess today is the double bad day. I get ready to mow the yard and moved the tractor out and I see it ******* coolant out the front of the tractor. I been carefully watching a small bit of damage to the center of the radiator for the last couple months and it finally sprung a leak.

I also have had a broken height adjustment clip/spring for the last year or so. With no pressure on the height adjustment knob it just pinned freely but I could still adjust the height of the mower deck.

Well today I took everything apart found I need a new fan belt but I will get that at NAPA for a quarter of the cost of Moma Deere.

The replacement parts will be in Tuesday and I put everything back together again.

My new to me Kubota was leaving a strip of tall grass not cut. Figured it was dull blades.


Pulled the deck to sharpen them. Looks like it was a combo of dull blades and massive buildup. The guy I got the mower from was an older guy, so I don’t think he had pulled the deck in quite some time.

Got the deck cleaned up and the blades sharpened. They’ll need replaced actually, but sharpening bought me some time.

It’s a little rustier than I hoped, but still in ok shape. I’ll wire wheel it and paint it at a later date.

The happiest moments in my life happened around two strokes. Hmm, that sound a little creepy huh? Lol

Riding dirt bikes, snow mobiles, jet skis, and dune buggies were some of my favorite things to do.
