A few months back I had a total change of mine on the wheels for the 63 Corvette. The funny part is when I first saw them months ago I didnt like them. The more I looked at them the more I liked them. I definitely didnt was to do the typical Corvette restomod wheel. Anyway I decided I would go for them. They are a 2 piece wheel and the bolts are in the back so you dont see them. Hope you guys like them.

that sits perfect...
thanks. I like to sit as low as possible. I wont have much ground clearance but its all about the stance.

Here is a picture of the van interior a few days ago. I really like the way the carpet ties all the colors together. I am holding off installing the rear bucket seats until I get the inside trim installed. The white strip you see is 3/4 x 3/4 pvc and it will be used as an attachment point for the interior trim. I made all the trim and then took it to my hydro dip guy for coating. I saw the trim today and it is awesome. I will definitely be getting a picture of it when I pick it up in a few days. I am having the headrests made as we speak. I can tell you my punch list is long and time is getting shorter but I will get it done. I am trying to plan every day so it counts. Oh, my painter said no more vans after all the real estate he has to cover with mine. Hoping to get the paint buffed out by the end of the week.

I picked up some trim I fabricated for the van. If you look at the van interior picture I posted earlier you will see a white band separating the orange **** below and the leather panels on top. This channel will allow me to snap on some "carbon fiber" trim to separate carpet from the leather. I made the trim by laminating the pvc board to create the 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" pieces. I primed these pieces about 4 times and sanded by **** off to get the trim smooth before I had it hydrodipped. The hex piece is the insert for the port hole windows.

All of the interior has version 2 fabricated parts meaning I pretty much tossed my original ideas in the trash. These panels are version 2 and I am very happy the way they turned out. I had a friend who did the double diamond stitching on the insert panels to match the seats. We are using all leather in the van so it smells awesome. All these pieces were fabricated out of pvc board.

That interior looks fantastic.

Are you driving it to Columbus or trailering it?
I will trailer the van to Columbus for a few reasons. I don't have many test miles on it and I know I will be working on it up until it's time to load it on the trailer. And speaking of trailers most of my builds have been trailer queens! Lol.

Are you going to be up for all 3 days of the show? Are you bringing up any of your other cars, or just the van? I'm looking forward to seeing one of your projects in person.
I unfortunately am probably only going to be able to make it one day. Either all day Friday, or I might be able to go Saturday, but not till mid-afternoon.

I've never been to a GG show. Are they fairly full all 3 days?

edit: my wife informed me I have more plans Saturday than I knew of. Guess Friday it is.

I have been to the Columbus car show 4 times in the last 6 years. Friday and Saturday's are the best days of the three. With anything, the weather plays a role as to how many cars are there. I think there have been around 6,000 cars in years past there.

If I had a choice, of partial or full day, I would take the full day on Friday. Wear good shoes, lots of walking, plenty of places to sit thankfully.

Thanks casmurbax,
I've been warned about the size and to bring good shoes by a couple of the people at the local cruise-ins. Most of them don't do the big shows anymore because of the size and time commitment, but many of them were in it for years. My wife informed me that it'll have to be Friday since we got a late invitation for a family gathering on Saturday.

Yes right now I plan to be there all 3 days. Friday is busy but Saturday is when most of the spectators come in. Sunday is probably the slowest day of the 3.

I have to fly up to Indiana for a class reunion so lost a few days in the shop. Its crunch time and too many things left to finish. I was working on the dash today. I am really happy with the dash panel. I designed it and then had come with with a water jet cut it out. From there I had my hydro dip guy lay down the carbon fiber and clear coating with a satin clear.

Pictured is one of my door panels. I have around 20 plastic clips to be able to snap the door panel on or off with ease. I got the clips from Amazon and they work great. The armrest is removable as well as the other two panels under it. I am really nervous about these being done in time. I leave July 6 for columbus, ohio so wish me luck.

So I can answer for Mark. I attended the Good Guys Columbus event Friday and yes it is done, like all projects, for the moment! And he showed it off proudly!
We talked about the time when these were common. Great to meet him and his better half!

I'm really sad we missed him. We walked through that section between 9:00-10:00am Friday and it wasn't there at that point. I've got several pictures with that background and even stopped to talk for a while to a nice lady about her super clean red Camaro about 50 ft to his left.
I don't recall seeing it on the way out the Celeste building that afternoon (4:00ish) either. We saved the buildings for the afternoon with the lingering rain forecast.
It was a big venue with people coming, going, and relocating frequently. Some cars I saw 2-3 times in different sections and some, like Mark's, I missed entirely.

I know a handful of guys who drove to the show and took a bunch of pictures. I remember seeing 2-3 different pictures of the van amongst the coverage. I thought... "I know that dude."

Hey guys hope all is well. We all need a goal and my goal was to get the van to Columbus. As I got to the week before the show I was eating lunch and dinner in the garage. So much to do but time was rolling by fast but persistence paid off as the night before we were buffing the van and installing the new weather seals. The morning we were going to leave I was taking care of some last minute punch out work I didnt think I would get to. I might have mentioned before I decided i needed to take the van enclosed instead of the open trailer I had planned to take. The van was just too nice once it got together and it would have been a pain to clean the van once we made it to Columbus. We got there early on Friday morning and it was pretty busy. I moved around a little bit to try to get a good spot. I did run into Bugnut Friday and we had a nice chat. So sorry I missed you other guys. We then decided were were going to cruise by the host hotel and check out the huge car show. When I saw that we had to get on an interstate I was very nervous. Over the last 6 months we might have had 3 test drives to try to solve a few tuning issues but I did not have time to drive the van once it was finished. I thought I had tightened everything and did as I was suppose to but for not having any miles on the van once finished was scary. I am happy to say it was a very enjoyable ride and nothing happened.....

On Saturday we took the van to the Goodguys top 10 area. There were some pretty nice rides there and we got to met alot of people. So many people were telling van storys and we got some very positive responses from lookers. The thing that really got peoples attention was the size of the rear tire. When they saw that 24 x 14 wheel in the back they smiled and pointed. LOL We left Saturday around 5 to go shopping for my wife. It was raining and I really didnt like having the van in the rain but I had no choice. At one point my wifes window just went down and we could not get it back up. Then out of the blue my window went down but I could get it back up. It takes some work but thank goodness I spend days on those door panels and used clips and screws so I can take them off if something needs looked at. Come to find a few droplets of water on the one touch window relay box and I figured moisture was the problem. I am going to seal the two boxes so it doesnt happen again. I also came home with a punch list of things I need to do..........I wrote things down as I found them. I expected to find a few things but overall I am very happy with how everything is working.

We left the show and went to my mother in laws house in Blairsville, GA and stayed 3 days. We just got home last night and I wanted to at least make an update. 2100 mile @8.5 MPG @5.50/ gallon made a pretty expensive trip.

Right now my focus is on knocking out my punch list on the van and get started on the vette. I had a bunch of parts show up for the vette so I will take photographs and post them up soon..................oh I forgot. Last night we were 30 miles from home and I see smoke coming out from behind the rear trailer tire on drivers side. I pull over thinking my trailer was on fire and could burn down with my van in it. I am laying on the asphalt area on the road side with cars wizzing by me at 70 mph and found I had a bad wheel bearing. The tire assembly was ready to fall off. I was 1 mile from the rest area so I drove in the grass to make it to the rest area. I had exhausted all solutions and my last was to leave the trailer all night in the parking lot. I literally had my trailer unhooked and I guy pulled up in a roll back truck. Long story short he was able to use the rear lift to raise the trailer so I could get the tire off. He was refusing to take money from me and I finally got him to accept $50 which was nothing compared to all the trouble he saved me. I drove home with 1 tire on the drives side of the trailer very carefully. There are still good people out there.

Mark, like every vehicle you build, the Van looks fantastic. So glad you caught the trailer wheel failure before it caused major damage to the trailer or its contents.

The van is stunning, as usual you've done some amazing work on this thing. Good catch on the wheel bearing, that could have been very bad indeed.

Close call with the trailer. Glad it turned out OK. I always keep a Trailer Aid Ramp Jack in my trailer:

Hey guys thought I would do an update. For the most part I have been working on the 63 Corvette as much as possible. I have been doing some fiberglass work on the bottom of the vette and the engine compartment. About 30 days ago I had the Corvette grill scanned and then sent to a guy who has been building all of the honey comb billlet parts for the vette. For some reason I wanted to do a custom grill so RestoMod Tech did some engineering and this is what we came up with. It was 3d printed in 5 pieces and then it was up to me to bond those pieces together. We going a better finish by using a vapor process that smooths the grill. I still have some sanding left but was really excited to get this mocked up on the vehicle.

I know its been a while but I want to get caught up over the next week. The van has for the most part is done. I still am doing shake down cruises on the van. I had the van over at the Lone Star Nationals this past month. Friday we drove to the show in the van and it was really doing great. We were on our way home from the show on Friday on I-35 at 5:00 rush hour downtown FT Worth Texas and the van died on the 2 lane highway. Needless to say there were 1000's of cars and only a 7' berm to pull over. I had to get a flatbed to get me back to my trailer. Unfortunately after diagnosis the issue was with the in tank fuel pump and I did not have the tools to drop the tank. Luckily my trip was not wasted as I had family in Ft Worth to visit with. I repaired the fuel pump and I have been doing the van on and off since the with much success. Our next show is next month at the Turkey Rod Run at the Dayton Motor Speedway.

I have been working on the Corvette and by luck I found some new fabricators in town. One came from Roadster Shop and the other is from Miranda Built. They had both been lured to a shop here in Sarasota of all places. They came to work for a guy who used to work for me at GodSpeed Rides. It didnt work out so they went out on their own. With the extra 8" we moved the engine back we have a lot of needed room in front of the motor. Here is the beginning of the radiator support.
