Oneida has a patent on the Dust Deputy. They have every right to sue others who are copying their design.

What Sawstop was doing is completely different. Sawstop was trying to get the government to require a blade stop system on table saws. Sawstop was hoping if government mandated a blade stop system that manufacturers would license the Sawstop system to meet the requirement.

Sawstop probably have bunch of crooked politicians in their sleeves. As far as Oneida it’s an interesting case. Dam right stolen the research from bill Pentz, Oneida was able to sue because they were award pattern first. Not because they came up with the idea first.

But that's how it works...it's "who's first to submit to the USPTO".

I had an invention that I casually mentioned in passing to someone. They patented it. *****. Stupid me. Lesson learned. But that's how it works.

I know basics of how pattern works, but don't use invention for that pattern... invention is an idea which onieda didn't came up with... a pattern is a government protection of your claimed intelmalatorights... stolen or not..

I made my own:

The top blue bucket is the cyclone, with the tight fitting lid. The bottom blue bucket is the catch bucket, obviously. There's a ring of OSB attached to the bottom of the cyclone bucket that makes a seal to the inside of the catch bucket. The white bucket is screwed to the floor, so I can just place the assembly into it and it stays put.

Works perfectly. Nothing gets through to the actual vac, unless I forget to empty the catch bucket and it gets too full. Then it starts acting like a regular vacuum and I realize my error and swear.

To make a good seal, the ring has to be perfectly circular around the outside edge. I did that (and the other circles) on the table saw.
