Got some buckets out of the attic for planting my peppers. Put hooks on the wall to hang up some PEX and rolls of wire that were stacking up. Then I hopped on the Wheelhorse and mowed the lawn.

You take the time to take a tractor tire loaded with 125 pounds of beet juice off and take it to the tire shop and have them repair it at least they find all the leaks well I guess not. In this picture on the upper leftthey plugged one of the holes. I guess that was good enough. I get the tire back yesterday and I install it back on the tractor and it was still spraying beet juice all me and the tractor. So I am so frustrated I head over to parts store and get a plug kit and plug the near hole. But wait there is still another hole. tempImageXfICR0.png So lifetime free flat repairs means I guess three trips and two days a pop if the tire store doesn't catch all the holes. Better yet I just fix them myself from now on as long as they are small.tempImageP4avyv.png

Installed new spark plugs in a 1977 Honda CB750. Cleaned and painted some really rusty farm equipment. Pulled up YouTube to watch some gun stock refinishing videos. I have a 60 year old .22 rifle that needs some help.

I've been thinking about doing this also. I've been working remotely from the living room with a laptop since March 2020. Time to install a ceiling fan and give it a try. I enjoy a hot garage more than the living room anyway.

I was working from home years before the pandemic. Nice weather, my “outside office” is the patio.

Cleaned. Put stuff away. Threw other stuff away that I had been saving but am tired of looking at and moving around.

Smoothed up the welds where I attached pipe couplings to angle from a soon to be repurposed bedframe that will soon become legs of a cart under construction. Attached two swivel casters that came from something a neighbor discarded.

Fabricated a fixture to hold a piece of aluminum while it is being fed through the table saw to cut it down to the desired size.

Had an interesting morning, seems that I was walking or running during a dream and wound up falling out of my bed and woke up as my head struck the nightstand. Trip to our local hospital where they examined me throughly, applied 4 stitches and allowed me to go home. Had a local weldor complete a project where good looks are important.

He saw some of my work and said that I was getting better and with more practice, I will be able to make pretty welds.

I rested all afternoon until we left to see the Top Gun movie, I have a connection to Top Gun, I worked for Cubic, the company that built the system and was the only electrician on the team that installed a system in Asia for a foreign Air Force

Kickin so much ***, you were kicking *** in your sleep hahahahahaha

As far as what I did, I went to an interview today and got hired on at another place. $7/hr more, and only 15 minutes farther down the road. 30 minutes extra drive round trip. I just wish they had been hiring way back when lol.

So I gathered my glazing tools and loaded them into the truck. Ready for my first day tomorrow. Supposedly not a hands on day, but I still want to take my tools as if it were a full work day.

Feels weird having the truck loaded with tools again. I was rather enjoying the emptiness/neatness lmao.

Best wishes for success in your new job.
Thanks!

In reality I am supposed to be getting ready to head to California for more stuff and to work a bit.

But with fuel prices, and my backup plans falling short (delivering stuff along the way, as my trailer will be empty), it does not make much financial sense to go right now.

Still have the issue with needing to be a witness in a court case. But I’m going to write a letter, or see if I can be video deposed instead.

Hopefully the extra little money coming in will work out well.

A couple of weeks ago, I picked up some old connecting rods from a swap meet. $1 each.

DEA4080B-903D-4B73-927F-33BFADC6D6D6.jpeg

Cleanup and removed the bolts. Hogged out the small end a couple hundredths, to fit some leftover 3/4” EMT,

A shot of Rustoleum safety red.

Made a cooking stand from a short piece of EMT. A few hours in my shop toaster oven to harden the paint.

Some screws and a rubber cap later.

Oil & filter change on the Camaro. Working on 5000 mile intervals... Oil change light came on about 3 weeks ago, I turned it off.
Today the mileage was at 80,816
I tear the tops off the filter boxes, write the date/mileage etc on them & clip then to a shelf.
Noticed the mileage on the previous box top was 75,814.... That's close enough to a 5000 mile internal.

Discovered a pile of dirt on the floor next to a bag of "cactus/succulent dirt" along with a mouse sized hole & what appeared to be a burrow into the bag. Bag is now inside one of the smokers in the yard, hopefully along with the goddamn critter which has been outsmarting me for months...
Twizzlers my ****...

I do a 5K interval also and although I record when it was changed in a spreadsheet I worked all the cars into needing a change when the mileage is evenly divisible by 5K (so 40K, 45K, 50K, and so on). Now all my wife and kids have to do is tell me when it hits one of those numbers. And of course, that always happens.
NOT.
At least when I get in one or check it I have a pretty good idea if it needs one without looking it up.

Did a little clean up and organizing. Put some tools away.

Also got to thinking that the full tank of fuel in the impala has been there for 2.5 years, so I decided to drain the tank before it goes really bad.

It didn’t stink, but it definitely wasn’t fresh. Added 10 gallons to the dakota, diluted with the fresh fuel that was already in it. Kept <5 gallons on hand for the mowers and yard tools. Gonna get 5-10 gallons of fresh fuel in the next few days to add back to the impala. Glad I caught it before it turned!

Also, not sure I mentioned it before, but forgot to post a couple days ago, I changed the fuel filter on the good ariens from a paper element to the correct “screen” filter. I had been running out of fuel with fuel still in the tank, so hopefully this eliminates that issue. I’m guessing the weight of the fuel pushed fuel through the paper element filter, and as the fuel level got lower, it didn’t have enough weight to push through?? Oof.

I do the same thing.

Worked on installing the MrCool mini split I got yesterday.

Just ordered one, hopefully it will be here by next week.

Got back to work on the BMW....

Took the pressure washer out. I washed the car in front of the garage. Put the pressure washer away.
Told my neighbor his tires were low. He asked to borrow a tire gauge and then told me it was broken. It wasn't broken, he only had 5 PSI in the tire. The other tires were at 10 PSI. Then helped a neighbor fill his tires.

I don't like my neighbors that much. It's more fun to watch them struggle.
Yes, I've become more sadistic in my old age. Burnt by too many shitgofers.

Man, I kiss the neighbors asses, like them or not. Makes things so much smoother. Every now and then it pays off. Paid off last weekend when the neighbor had some heavy equipment out and extra hours with it sitting idle. Saved me about $2000 (I did offer to pay part of his expenses).

I bought a totally unnecessary project. '89 Honda HT3810 for no particular reason other than I wanted one. Deck is pretty thrashed but it's there. Needs a starter (engine out job so I got it cheap), and the brakes don't work.

If I had competent or useful neighbors, I'd like em, whether I did or not. But mine don't add up to a pile of frog ****.

My neighbor is a great guy. Not very mechanical but always offers to lend a hand. He's a hell of a cook. I have dinner with them once or twice a week. So I don't mind filling the tires on the car.
Most of my other neighbors, I'll have nothing to do with. I've also been burned to many times.

They don't even have to be competent or useful for me to like or help them - they just have to act right. It's amazing how some people can act and still carry themselves as if they claim the high ground. Did you ever want to interrupt someone mid sentence and ask them if they actually listen to themselves talk?

Way too frequently.

Today’s modification to the paper towel holder.

A piece of leftover 1/4” rod from something. Welded in to a T , then bent to shape in my bench vice. Brackets from scrap sheet metal, hammered in to shape. Should keep the breeze from unrolling the roll, I hope.

Emptied out the lower half of a storage cabinet I built last year. Had just shoved stuff in there to get it out of the way and off the floor, with predictable results.

Threw some of it out. Built a shelf to put some on. Organized what was left and going in. Maybe not perfect, but it’s better. Some of what I was getting rid of was steel, so hauled it to the end of the driveway. Hadn’t even made it back to the garage when a scrapper pulled up, loaded up, and left.

I need to fix tha A/C. Checked to make sure I hadn’t accidentally disconnected the wire to the compressor clutch. Noticed this

0E6D6F20-C2FF-478A-81E0-4CF9F21CBB09.jpeg

The water neck housing is cracked. Some how, the O ring is not leaking. Ordered a replacement water neck. Its supposed to be here Saturday, so maybe I’ll get it changed this weekend.

Then I need to put some gauges on the A/C to see what’s going on. I hate working on A/C. I’ve not had much success with it.

Sold a fuel tank sender/pump combo for $100 👍👍
Buyers offer... Would have taken $50 just to pay time to test and ship.

But that pays for the parts/shop supplies ordered today.
