This isn't mine, but it is a bit of interesting automotive paraphernalia I have never seen before. This is from a Craigslist listing for a 1953 Hudson:

So, what is this gizmo for? Checking for small dogs and children next to the front wheel? The Hudson also has a "normal" outside rear view mirror. I've never seen anything like it.....

I bought a 1956 SD highway patrol car and there was a coffee can of these kids badges inside it. EDIT I realized that picture was horrible so I took a better one. I also included the water slide decals on the back window. Charlie O the mule was the mascot for the Kansas City A's from 65 to 76 (last part with Oakland).

Here is what I think is a pinstriping set in the box that I found back in March.

I bought this new set because my other tool wore out after 60+ years. I have a bunch of AMERO stripers.

I can't remember what I was looking for, but in the process of digging through two very large boxes of stuff I came across these.

1970 was the year that both the Mayor, A.L. "Slim" Rasmussen, along with the entire Tacoma City Council, were recalled during a special election.

* I am still looking for the clipping for the ad when he sold gasoline for a penny a gallon. (But that's not what I was looking for earlier.)(I'll think of it later.)

This photo was in the same box. I have no idea who "Andy" is. It's definitely NOT Andy Norwood. (Andy's Auto Parts, 4715 Pioneer Way East, Puyallup, Wa., an old parts store built 6 feet from the railroad tracks. No running water.)
Maybe somebody here can identify something in the image?

Thank you kindly! I instantly fell in love and had to have it. It will go well inside my GULF station. I would have bet 40s or 50s by the design but it has a zipcode on the label. I love the embossed patterns in the case on old batteries, reminds me of tooled leather.

^ The old hard-case batteries are kind of cool. I was a bit surprised when I saw the zip code on the label. Those old hard cases pretty much disappeared long ago except on some old 6-volts and the big truck batteries (4D, 8D, etc.)

That's what I thought too. You could certainly sneak it into a 50s display and it wouldn't look out of place

You can still buy replica batteries for older cars. The 1970 Cadillac I bought about a year ago had a replica Delco battery that looked just like original equipment. Inside was an Odyssey AGM battery. Unfortunately, it died and the manufacturer said that it would be 3 months or more before they could produce a replacement due to supply shortages.

I immediately assumed the goat ad was a photoshop of the dog ad but on closer inspection there are enough differences that it's probably real. I don't know why I doubted - when I was growing up on a dairy farm it was common to pick up or deliver young calves in the trunk of the same '67 LeSabre we drove to church on Sunday. Calves got wrapped in an old blanket, chickens were stuffed into a gunney sack.

About 1960-61 I picked an accessory bud vase from a REO, ca. 1916-1922 or so, found in an abandoned junk-yard. (Remember those days?) That vase has long been gone and I have been trying to find one like it, as well as I can remember it. No luck so far.
But I have picked up a couple of others in the search.
Anyone remember these things??

The original air freshener! Since I'm not 100 years old, no, but I am aware of the original Brass Era history of them, the original VW Beetle 50's era comeback, and the 90's VW retro accessory.

There's a guy with a few of these, different sizes, in only so-so condition (mildly to badly chipped), at one of my fleas. And I'm not sure if they're original or not.

I'm not really sure but I think Continental of Dallas TX either used old displays or they were still building old style batteries because it sure looks older than the zip code indicates. It will look good in my GULF station when I get it built.

That is a nice can. Camel made several different sizes for those cold patch kits. I have a whole collection of them.
