Drier outlet to compressor.... a bit lost

Assuming I'm not going to unintentionally half-*** this...

Damn near dropped my phone down the back of the drier getting this pic. Hopefully one of you fine gentlemen can ID the outlet?




Plan is make a 3-6ft pigtail that plugs into this outlet & then either use my REALLY BIG welder extension cord (about 1in thick) or a 30A RV shore power cord to plug the compressor into. Compressor currently (see what I did there?) has a short drier cord wired to it.... at least I think that's what it is, pic of cord on compressor:



It looks to me like the cord on the compressor will plug into the drier outlet... except for the small matter of them being about 30ft apart & there's a door between them.

Clue me in there please.

There is no grounding conductor with that dryer receptacle while people do use it for compressors & welders, it is not really code compliant.

What does the motor nameplate say? I dont care what the tank label says or what the marketing fluff says.

According to this listing, it has an FLA of 15a which would mean its about 3HP NOT 6.5hp

Regardless, the old 10-30 dryer receptacle is not grounded and is not the proper receptacle for that 240v compressor

Well ****, the other alternative is hard wiring it. There's a 20A/110V outlet about 14ft from the compressor & that outlet it pretty much right behind the breaker box on the side of the house. I could swap the outlet & wiring out for the correct stuff... & as the same time add an outlet for my welders. However, that wall is buried behind "stuff" right now
The layout is the compressor is between the two single roll-up doors in a two car garage & the breaker box is on the side of the garage.

I think I need to call out a sparky to come have a look, or walk across the road to the college & speak to the guys in the their commercial electrical class. Buddy used to teach that class, but he retired.

And having thought about it a bit.... add a outlet for charging EV's. At my old place I had a service disconnect right next to the compressor & when I moved out I took that with me.
So I could run wires from the breaker box for the compressor, welders & EV charging & have them all on the wall between the roll-up doors.

The pisser is I think the college closed for Spring Break last week. I also need to take a look at the welder outlets I have in a box someplace.

Hardwire it properly. The new outlet may come in handy down the road for a welder or other equipment.
But new questions will come with that. Like the current panel size, load and if another breaker can be added.

Also that 3 prong dryer outlet just might be disconnected if there is another upgraded 4 prong close by.

Dug out the box of *stuff*... I have 8 of those 110 quad outlets & the two outlets upper left were used for my 375 Spectrum plasma cutter. Welders (MM210 & Syncrowave 200) have plugs that fit the two outlets below the door of the service disconnect.




It it ok to mount the new outlets to the plywood panel?

Running cord through a door, window or wall is against the Code.
You also need a 36"D, 30"W unobstructed space in front in a panel. The bench/table in front of it shouldn't be there.

Moot point now, but I was referring to an extension cord.
As for the breaker box, it will be code compliant before the breaker that feeds that box is installed.

Unless using straight plugs, that 50A receptacle is mounted upside down, molded right angle plugs are almost always designed for ground prong up, the cord will hang wrong mounted prong down.

The disconnect adjacent to the compressor doesn't have the clearance required and should not be labeled as a "Service disconnect". The flex conduit to it is only allowed to have 360 degrees of bends .... it exceeds that.
