I insulated the garage a week ago (and the rest of the house) and wow it's very much improved the comfort level and temps. Servers are much happier as well. Totally a pita but also pretty cheap win on the scale of DIY projects. Also done in a day is a great feeling!

A few questions.

Should I just spackle the plugs after I attach them to a wood backer or full mud and tape?

Is it possible to have put in "too much"? Not asking for any specific reason, the house overall is dramatically more comfortable. Some spots are about 24" deep.

How does one "air seal" test their living area to find leaks?

The 24K btu + 8k btu were keeping things very chill until I moved a bunch (tons) of metal items into the garage which I've learned hear created a giant heat sink radiator which is probably why the temps have been creeping up in the garage again. Around 8KW load running 24/7. Going to move all that out this weekend.

Insulation, the gift that keeps on giving. 👍
Like you mentioned, the "gift" is really an investment, a good one. I can't speak to your plug repairs, a lot depends on what results you're looking for.

This is in a garage, correct? What level of finish are we chasing here?

As long as the ceiling/joists/trusses are rated for the weight, and you still have proper attic venting, no, not really. There is a diminishing level of return though.
