Anyone ever do glow in the dark flakes?

Yes, I know, it sounds insane to have in a shop. But I know there are floors out there with it. My shop becomes my workplace, wrenching space, and party room. I'm wanting to add some glow in the dark flakes to my planned floor coating, but wanted to make sure they actually work, or if the photos are all heavily photoshopped, or a black light is used. It would be nice to be able to get around the shop at times where the lights aren't on. Plus I think it would look cool when I'm sitting in the dark, listening to tunes, and sipping a drink.

I want to do something like this, without the patterns:

Never done it, never seen it. Photo looks edited to me. But hey, that's just my opinion. I could only imagine the effect last only a few minutes, of course depending on your lighting situation.

They work, I have them in my basement utility room. Hard to take photos of. They do need full light to glow and not sure for how long they glow, probably not as long as you would like.

Friend has some glow in the dark flakes in his full flake epoxy floor. They work but it's nothing like what you're after I don't think.

Maybe it's worth getting some and making a 2'x4' sample board. Let it sit in your shop, with your lighting and see if it does what you want.

Just use regular paint to stick them on and cover with poly

Leds charge my boys stars on their ceiling, so I'd guess my Superbright LEDS would charge them. But that's a valid point.

I like mike93lx's idea to get some and test them out.

why not have some uv-a lights for party mode?
i think plain epoxy will fluoresce. test it out on a sample first.

if you have glow in the dark (phosphorescent) flakes in the epoxy, i wonder if the epoxy will absorb the uv and render the flakes less effective.

either way, you definitely want uv lights. phosphorescent material is a joke without it. it won't glow for very long in actual darkness.

We sell tons of flecks annually and roughly 3-5% of them are glow-in-dark, or neon. Mostly used in party spaces, bars, man-caves, etc. No negative feedback on them and everyone seems pleased with them!

They do work. They are not as exciting as I would like. I have seen lighting improve them. also, lighter base coats

That looks really fun. I think glitter would work well in a shop that is also used for gatherings. Silver or gold based on things in the bar that correspond.

Colors of blue that look like water would be good with floral/Polynesian/tiki bar. Mid century colors with a more atomic 50’s style bar.

I think that glow in the dark would go with almost any bar.

I think that the guy’s that are negative about the style are the guys that are afraid of it. The backwards guys that would literally be afraid to wear a pink shirt… they may have grown up in a world where if they stuck out… they would have been pounded down.

I am old enough that I do not care what other guys think. As long as it does not embarrass my wife, it’s cool.

Glitter looks great when properly installed. To many forget to sand and do an extra coat of clear
