Looks like are on track to get a decent amount of grapefruits and a ton of pomegranate this year.
Apples are still slowly coming in too. I think they will be better next year, this is the first year they have fruited.
I will have to go out back and get some pictures of the orange and lemon trees. My wife said they are going gangbusters, looking good!

We still keep loosing all our berries to the heat. I might have to figure out getting them little shade?? They are in direct sun all day.

Forgot to get pictures but took the kids up North today and went blackberries and strawberry picking. Then went to the steakhouse for lunch

Strawberries were not that impressive this year, we only got a few. But here is part of the blackberry haul.
We didn't get that many this year because we mostly use them to make and can jam and since we still have some left from going a little overboard last year we didn't really need it. It was more so just a fun activity for the kids.

Yea heck no.....
We have this thing around us called."market on the move" and it's basically every Saturday morning super early you can go and get like 50-60# of produce for $15 bucks. My wife got two, so for $30 bucks we got like 5+ boxes full of stuff. 2 boxes of tomatoes, several different kinds of melons, a whole box of jalapenos, squash, like 5 bags of grapes, all kinds of stuff. We use (can, freeze, cook) what we can and then anything that's already on its way out we just feed to the goats, so it's kind of a win win.

That would be cool, around here they are acting like it's the last crop ever. We got new neighbors this year that want to garden, so I'm hoping next year will be different.

Went out this morning after church and got some shade up for the pot pies. Sheww they are getting big. And had a spare triangle so threw it up for a little extra shade where the baby goats eat dinner.

It got up to about 110-112 today. I had 26 broilers in a pen. Multiple tubs of water. Shade. Everything I could do. Lost 10 today, not happy!! Gonna try and pull a hose and run some misters out in that pen. It's the only one that doesn't have them.
Have to do all this tonight as I have a full plate of work tomorrow and my wife and I leave Tuesday morning for our "honeymoon". We've been married 8 years but never took one. So this past year for Christmas my parents bought us a vacation.

It's almost healed. Instead of solid red I just have some red spots now, but the white is coming back.
We are looking forward to it but also a bit nervous leaving all the animals when it's this hot!! It's hard to leave all that responsibility with someone, especially when we are having such hot days. They are pretty easy in the winter but staying on top of water, trying to keep them cool, making sure they are all ok, it's a part time job lol.

I got some misters hooked up for the baby pen. These guys/gals are almost getting big enough to turn loose and then I can move the ducks in here and put the broilers in the big pen which does have misters.

I was also able to get some misters hooked up in the broiler pen. I've done my best and feel like I've done all I can to set them up for success. It's up to the weather breaking a little at this point......not sure on my end what else I can do. It's even 105 in the garage, with zero air flow. So caging them is not really any better of a solution either. Hopefully we don't lose anymore..........

The heat is a big problem with birds. I put sheets of foam inside the walls of my coop to help insulate it and mine are doing good, but you live in an oven other than going under ground I dont know of anything else you could do.

I gotta borrow my buddies mini-ex soon anyways to bury some drain lines. I have a couple of roof scuppers that flood the side of the shop so I'm going to bury some basin boxes and run 4" pipe all the back to the ditch. So I'm thinking while I have it I will go ahead and trench out the coop so I get power out there to run some fans.
I did that in my back yard too to keep water from ponding around the patio and pool. These drains run way out into the animal field. You can kind of see one there. They are all around the patio.

That will help a lot getting electric out there, I had access to a trencher a couple of years back, so I did that also. I put in 5 water spigots and 12-2 wire to every outbuilding, and about 1000 ft. of that 4" plastic corrugated pipe to drain the rain water.

My usual "vacation" consists of a trip back to the Midwest and then days filled with chores around the lake house, taking the kids out on the boat 3 times a day, and driving around to see what's going on at the family farms. My usual vacation keeps me pretty busy which is good. I don't get home sick, I get work sick

Got home and no one has perished!! That's a win.
Garage door company also came while I was gone and replaced all the shrinking, failing trim as well as the bottom seal on two of my five doors.
And here comes the rain.....along with about a 50mph wind.

We do have a Midwest trip coming up in a few weeks for a family wedding. Taking the kids this time which means I'll get to show my son all the big planting, harvesting, etc rigs. He is just getting old enough to get super excited and curious about it all. He loves tractors.
