Who has one & how much do you use it? I was thinking of getting one. My friend has one & I like it. But, I'm wondering how long it would put up with frequent use? Aside from the battery life issue, could it "replace" a pneumatic gun inside the shop? Seems it would be handy not to be tied to an air line all the time. But, not sure if this is the intended purpose. Thoughts?

i got it initially for race car pit use a little over a year ago. however, i have not touched 1/2 air gun at work since. For the last year i have use it daily on anything i can get it on-- wheels, r&r suspension, whatever. When im not using it someone else is trying to borrow it in the shop. both packs still hold a good charge. money well spent.

I have 7-8 guys that have air tools going to waste in their box. They let the other guys use those when they ask to borrow. Many guys are going cordless.

If you have ever used one to change a flat tire in 5 minutes on the side of I 35 in austin tx and you enjoyed doing it you would understand. just get one.

What's the usual price for a new CT6855 from a Snap-on truck? How well does the CT6855 sell compared to the CT6850? The CT6855 comes with only one lithium ion battery, compared to the CT6850's two NiCds.

I'm right the opposite..... Mine stays in the cabinet unless needed. As long as I am working in the garage, the air tools will give me more power for the same size/weight of tool. I use the battery impact if I am outside in the yard, changing a flat for someone on the side of the road, goiing to a junkyard to get a part or heading up to another house to do some work where air is not available.

It is a life saver when needed though. Even something as simple as pulling blades off of a lawnmower to sharpen them at my dads house is a LOT easier with electric impact. As far as batteries go, I have the NiCads and have not had a problem with them.

Everyone I've talked to who has one loves it. For bottom feeders like me, doubt I'll ever find a good, cheap, used one.

I have the Snap-On 1/2 impact with the Nicads. Ive taken off and reinstalled 24 wheels on a single charge. If the wheels had been torqued at 80-100ft lbs it would have been more. Most of the wheels were prob at 175-250lbs. I won't ever go completly cordless because air tools just function better. Hard to get a cordless air ratchet that works as good as air and hard to get 1000ftlb cordless impact. I do love my cordless stuff though

Mine stays in the cabinet mostly as well, should have waited for the Li-ion packs. Very frustrating to get 19 out of 20 lugnuts off only to have to grab your airgun. However I do use my 3/8" 14v lots more and that sucker hunts with the 18v pack in it but the sparks do fly, so I don't do it often, just till the 14v pack is off the charger. Really need a more affordable battery pack.

Jack,

I picked up my first one for $150 from a guy that was barely used. The second one cost me $110 but I had to buy a battery for it. That one was bought for a guy here at work who had been looking for one over a year.
