Got a line on an Emglo (this one was made by Jenny) that's clean and recently serviced. It's a 60 gallon, single stage, single phase, 28.7CFM @ 125psi, 5HP, 4 cyl, 780 rpm. I will mostly be running common air tools; impact, die grinder, etc. Will the single stage be ok or should I pass on this and start looking for a 2 stage?

If that thing really puts out 28.7cfm, get it and don't look back. It will kill just about any 2 stage compressor on the market.

Maybe I am reading it wrong but delviery cfm is 19. Still a nice compressor though.
I'm sorry, you're correct, I was looking at the wrong spec.

Just called Jenny, they said delivered air is 23CFM@125psi. Pretty stout.

That machine should fill the bill for just about anything except 3 sandblasters at the same time! go for it!

It will have more frequent but somewhat shorter cycles than a two stage, but will still do what you want it to do. You didn't cite a price, so it could be a good deal or a bad one, dunno, but a good compressor none-the-less.

That compressor will run anything a home mechanic will use and a lot of things you probably won't like a 1" impact. Get it and don't look back, it should be the last compressor you will ever need if it is taken care of. Get a couple qts of synthetic compressor oil, change it out when you get it and you will be good for a long time.

Picked her up today. Seems to be in great shape. I wasn't exactly ready for the sheer weight of this thing! Manufacturer says 575 pounds. Thanks again for all the input/help w/this. Will hopefully be the last compressor I buy.

That's a STEAL for $500, excellent buy. There's an IR model that'll do just under that (18 cfm or so) that's commonly around 900-1000, so a good buy!
