I just picked this up. Need help finding a chuck key for the drill and what is the arm on the column?

Is that the original chuck? If not, a picture of it and the info on it would be better. I know mine of my drill presses have the original chucks.

The chuck looks like an original Jacobs 633C. You'll need a K3 key as mentioned above. The Jacobs website will also have more info.

That "arm" is a work hold-down clamp. Look up the patent for info on how it works.

Appreciate the replies. Was thinking it was for a light, but your right it’s a hold down.

It seems like the drill has very little use, was thinking someone had restored it, but it seems original.

That is a Welch cam lock drill press clamp. "Sold and built under license from Northrop per the original box.

Hi Frank. I am also a Frank. I buy, rehab, and sell vintage power tools. I bought a floor stand model made by Emerson (113) after they took over from King-Seeley. It’s rough but does work. However I didn’t get a chuck key with it. My thought - that’s a quick trip to Lowes or HD type of thing. Didn’t work. The pilot (new word I learned today) is 1/4”. The Lowes key with a 1/4” pilot does not work. The thing didn’t even engage the gear teeth on the chuck. You post mentions a K3 chuck key made by Jacobs. Am I on the right path? Sears probably sold a million of these things but I only need one. Thanks for any help or advice you can provide. Frank J Taylor. Jacksonville NC (252) 626-2841

Yes, a K3 key will fit a 633C chuck... 5/16" pilot, 11 teeth. There are many options on Amazon and ebay.
