Pulled the lower right fairing off the ZX. Found a good spot for the new LOUD!!! horn. Will also need to remove the seat, gastank & inner/upper fairing to run the wires from the battery to the solenoid. The original horn wires go to the other two posts on the solenoid.
Was also going to take the opportunity to use some of the graphite stove goop I bought three weeks ago for the tatty looking headers.
Tested a small area at the time & it's held up really well.

Can I find the bottle of graphite stove goop? Can I ****

Doesn’t look like much but took better part of the afternoon. Up and down the ladder. My 8’ ladder wasn’t tall enough to safely work at that height. Recalled dad had a taller ladder. Grabbed the trailer and retrieved his 10’ ladder that was locked in a utility trailer.

Going to hang trapeze down center of building for electrical and compressed air.

Now I’ve got it figured out I can assemble the rest of them and just knock the z clips on.

ZRX,, I used to use Arco Graphite oil to make exhaust manifolds near black, and it lasted and did not get rusty after that. I learned it did it by spilling some on an unprepared manifold!

I have like 4-5 quarts I found at a yard sale an am holding it in reserve for such use...

I worked all morning just outside the garage. I cleaned up the interior of this fuel tank and removed all the crusty / rusty stuff from the inside. I worked on this thing for several hours and was super optimistic. Unfortunately after adding a few gallons of fuel it started leaking from behind the straps. I imagine it has pin holes since it took several hours to appear. Guess I'll have to remove this tank after all

Made a huge mess milling some spalted Silver Maple. Should have kept the dust collector running, but decided to vacuum the place afterward, then blew the rest out with my electric leaf blower. Respirator didn't help with the sweltering in the garage, but it's a necessity.

Pulled the left side lower fairing off the ZX, then the gastank & inner fairing doodad. Horn wouldn't fit on the right side as a radiator hose was in the way a bit. Horn fits the same place on the left side. Mocked it up to make sure it cleans the fairing & the radiator etc.




Then had to come up with a location for the compressor. It will fit under the gastank by the battery...






Or next to the left intake snorkle, but they will require installing a couple of rivnuts in the frame & I'd rather not drill holes in the frame.



Need to cut this half-assed mount off the compressor as it will be mounted with Adel clamps...

Had to re-align the electric eyes on my automatic garage door. They were misaligned and the door would not shut.

Put the last bolts in the belt guard for the 12 Volt Generator project.

I just had to use longer bolts and feed them up from the bottom, thread nuts on them and then mount the Belt Guard to the projecting threaded ends.

Stupid stuff lol. Hate when they don’t give me Subaru to work on. Everything I did was a Subaru except an Enterprise Rental Vehicle oil change on a Ford Expedition. Ford tech was too good to do it he said and only done the recalls. I ended up tearing the antenna fin off with my lift . I have an old lift like from the 80s that has the wire at the top that hangs low and the fin got caught on it coming down. It made a heck of a pop and flew off after it drug the wire down with it lol. We just glued it back on and sent it. The car was a 2021 with 49,000 miles in rough shape was leaking oil like a sieve. The radio and everything still worked we literally just glued it back on and made sure everything was right and tight. I didn’t necessarily want to do that but it wasn’t me that did lol my manager did. They were coming to pick it up anyway, I don’t understand why one of their techs could not have done it. I’m just glad they know it’s not my fault. My lift is the only one like that. Other than that nothing bad happened lol except one of my training boys having a Tahoe towed back for only putting 6 quarts in. I wrote him up for that cause he was supposed to check the level before it left just like every car. 2 more and he is gone. I’ve given him a lot of leeway already so I decided I needed to take corrective action I have the ability too even though I’m not technically a manager. People were on vacation so tow truck driver had to travel a good distance to get them. The light didn’t come on till they got going down the road.

Toilet tank leak test for the last 18 hours. Put the guts from the other tank in this new/old one and the flush valve rubber did not conform well so the water came out as a constant stream. Same for the flapper which was maybe 3 years old and still pretty pliable. Hit up the home store for new internals and it sealed up properly. There is a small bit of water dripping from the flapper but of insignificant quantity, one drop over 8 hours and about 2 drops when I checked it the next morning.

The setback on this tank is different than the old one so it does not sit on the bowl mounts. Cut phenolic as spacers for that.

I don’t really think it’s funny. Everyone knows I use that for everything lol. I wanted to get them a new one but we glued it. Not my idea. But I’m not going to fault anyone for it. It breaking wasn’t my fault so I won’t hold against them for the repair either. If enterprise had one of their techs fix it they could of paid for it not us but their equipment is probably a lot newer so they would not have had this issue. I don’t think it’s funny but the words everyone yelled when they heard it was.

First full coat of oil-based polyurethane is on the Sideboard cabinet. 4 days+ after the 2nd oil stain and there was still a light tack in some places. I laid the Red Mahogany down too thick, trying to blend and attain an even finish and despite box fans, high temps, 30% humidity, it was still not completely dry in places.
Worse, there's a huge defect in the top counter surface, some sort of splashed solvent or glue stain that seems to be present in the oak-veneer plywood itself. First notice after conditioner was applied, I tried a few things and it is still visible. Nothing I could do but press on, I can live with it.

Wiped it all down with a tack cloth and even that lifted some of the stain color. And then the staining brush itself resulted in a lot of excess stain getting taken up into the brush. Good and bad, it helped like a color coat but might damage the integrity of the poly coat.

The ends, fascia and top surface are getting a second coat. Then a 1000grit wet sand, then the top will get a 3rd clean coat.

This stain lifting also has the effect of staining my quart of poly I was dipping into. I still have the two bookcases of this project to complete, so I will keep this poly quart exclusive to this stain / project. Probably not enough remaining, but I'll be pouring from another clean quart into this 'Red' quart, as needed, to prevent contaminating the newer container.

Staining the bookcases, I'll be trying to apply much less material while still getting the tone I want. Might take 3 light applications. Resigned to waiting the extra time. Not like I don't have a lot of other demands on my time, anyway.

1st poly nearly dry. Going to give it another 90mins or so and do a very light wet sand to knock down any grit or outgassing, and then give the ends and top another coat. And MAYBE do that again in another 4hrs and call it done and let it dry overnight before moving it into my home office in the morning.

I had a newly installed flapper leak in the past.
My fix was to unhook the chain at the top and put a few brass fittings on it.
The extra weight on the flapper stopped the drip and allowed long or short flushes, determined by holding the lever down or not.
That was meant as a temporary fix but has become permenate and I did it to another toilet as well.

Got the horn location sorted. Separated the wrist fracture pulling a goddamn ziptie tight. Put the lower fairing back on after removing the left OEM horn. Removed right OEM horn.





Cut the stupid mount off the compressor.



Mounted compressor & hooked up the air line to the horn.



Can barely see the horn, but ya gonna hear it...:



Still need to sort the wires, fuse & relay etc. Awaiting *stuff* from Amazon for that.

No Vidocane or Tramadol - the doc gave me HYDROcodone/acetaminophen also known as Norco 5? Have not needed it - one Tylenol mid afternoon yesterday, another around noon today. -I'm good at rest it twinges a bit when I get up or other major movements, but its OK. I do have a high pain tolerance threshold generally.
