DeWalt 24” Drum Fam From Costco?

So I’m sure others have noticed the 24” DeWalt drum fan on sale at Costco for $99. Does anyone here have experience with it? I need a portable fan for cooling either the garage or the carport depending on where I’m working, and I’ve been known to put a fan on parts that need to dry faster as well as using a fan to blow away fumes or grinding dust.

I picked up the DeWalt yesterday and love the wheels/handle/variable control, but the air velocity is noticeably less than my much smaller $60 Lasko Wind Machine. However, the DeWalt seems to disperse the air in a larger area while the Wind Machine seems more concentrated/directional. I have no idea if the DeWalt is actually putting out more air or not…it’s advertised as putting out close to 2,000cfm more so I’m a bit perplexed by the lower velocity. It does take up more floor space and is louder. It’s fall now though, and I’m not painting anything, so it’s kinda hard for me to really test it right now.

Has anyone used this fan enough to know if it’s worth the price and extra space it takes up, or is just cheap generic junk with the DeWalt name on it kinda like my SnapOn coffee mug?

It's almost certainly generic and DeWalt-licensed like your Snap on coffee mug. I have a "Stanley" fan, OEM'd by Lasko, a bit smaller than the DeWalt, bought at the Business Costco probably four or so years ago. It's been running almost continuously in my garage since then with no issues. And I have a cheapo Lasko box fan that I've beat the **** out of for twenty years that's still running fine.

It's not all that... CFM at max is less (more like doesn't feel much greatness), but quieter, variable speed, that is about it. Not a super air moving fan if that is what you are looking for.

I bought one at the beginning of last summer I think. It’s run all day 3-4 days a week for the last two summers. There might be a better deal out there somewhere, but it’s been great to me so far.

CFM is cubic feet per minute - area of flow times velocity of airstream. If the DeWalt has half the velocity over twice the area, the CFM will be the same even with the lower velocity. To know whether the DeWalt is putting out more or less CFM than the Lasko would require some data for the calculation.
