What to do with all those aerosol cans???

Got tired of spray cans all over the place, under-foot, back of shelves, etc...

Ripped down some 1 x 8's and used Simpson brackets to hold the shelving between doubled-up 2 x 4's:

I initially looked at purchasing the pre-made shelves (aluminum/diamond-plate), but they came in around $50 for 12 cans! A 4-foot shelf would be over $100. Gotta get a shear/brake and make some myself.

I also looked for an old discarded display rack from a hardware store, to no avail.

You have more paint that some auto part stores!

I keep 3-4 cans of primer and gloss black on hand and that's about it.

For stuff like that I spray in a gun. I keep rattle can on hand for quick touch ups or stuff that isn't worth putting real paint on.

There are some quality paints in rattle-cans these days. Most of my stuff is specialty coatings (high-heat, plastic prep, vinyl dye, etc.).

I tip plastic milk crates on their sides, set it on the shelf, and lay cans on their sides inside the crate. Lets me store them easily, quickly identify the color/cap, I can grab a can without tipping over the ones in front of it on the shelf, and the sediment settles on the side of the can rather than the bottom, so it's easier to mix.

I could use your rack for carb cleaner, brake cleaner and penetrating oil though!

i got a couple like that. they work pretty good. i don't have ten thousand cans of paint and stuff to store though. lol
