Hunter Ceiling Fan Pull Switch

I have a Hunter Fremont 52" Ceiling fan model 53009 that recently had the light pull chain broken. The chain broke inside the switch, so I cannot simply replace the chain. The switch, however, has a long hollow threaded part that the globe would go over and then secure from the bottom (see photos). I cannot find a replacement pull switch that has this threaded part. Any advice? Thanks in advance!

I found the whole switch/bracket/bulb socket assembly here. Looks like it could be a standard switch just conneted to a ****** (hollow threaded part). Take that off and see what the thread on the switch looks like or look up some numbers from the switch.

It looks like there is a metal plate the threaded extension goes through. Worst case, put a thin nut in both sides of the plate to lock the extension in place. The string or chain can pass through it but the switch itself does not have to actually thread into it if it is lined up perfectly enough.

Alternatively most fan switches have external threads. A section of threaded sleeve could join the external threads of the switch to the extension piece.

But somewhere there is a replacement for the hunter switch with internal threads….

Most of those switches are threaded with a trim piece that screws on. Yours may just have a coupler instead of the trim piece. Maybe all you need to do is disassemble and get any old switch.

A regular spst pull chain light switch will work, I've done it many times, the pipe ****** is separate and the chain goes through it, then a chain extension goes on. The problem is finding a new switch with the silver chain. Most of the replacements have a brass chain.. If you have separate switches for the fan and light, you can cut the wires off the switch and wire nut them together, then just use the light switch. If it's just one switch for both fan and light, you could still bypass the switch and install a remote control. I have one fan/light combo that is controlled by a common switch, I put a remote on that just so that everyone keeps their hands off the pull chains.

Might be a 3 or 4 speed. You can find the multi position switches on the internet. I just changed 1 that came with a plastic pull chain the broke with little use.

I have had great success with Hunter customer service. Give them a call and have your model number ready. From what I recall, their warranty is good. I had parts shipped the same day I called them.

It's the switch for the light. He stated that in the original post. The upper switch is for the fan and the lower is for the light. And there are only two wires on it. Multi speed would have at least four wires.

Yes, but they all use the same junk pull chain switches. I probably change a dozen a year. The warranty isn't worth screwing with over $5 if he can change it himself.
