All this Inter-Species violence and death could be avoided with an intervention. You could hire a trained interventionist and have you, the neighbors and the squirrels sit down and communicate.

For Example once everybody knows the issues you could buy a HUGE bag of peanuts and keep it at the neighbors. The neighbors could build nesting boxes and a workout facility so the squirrels could live next door and never leave. maybe you could arrange for atour service for the squirrels. You could make a box and lure them with nuts and send them to Disneyland via USPS.

I use a 177 spring piston Feinwerkbau 124. I’ve gotten so I don’t like shooting anything but I do make an exception for ground squirrels who are eating things up here. Mine is running about 850 fps and is effective on squirrels. It is quiet.

You really shouldn't use a .22 anyways as they can go 1.5 miles and hitting the house isn't good.

They make pellets with polymer tips that work great. Our place was under siege when we bought it.

Get all the trees and bushes away from the house and kill anything that gets on or near the house.

Good old Victor traps work too.

But watch out if they have holes in the house they can get into... if you wound one and it crawls into he house to die..... yuck.

You will need to seal up all the holes.... preferably when nothing is in them.:headscrat

I have one of these for Moles and it works great. I. always thought it could be used for squirrels . It might be a little overkill but who wouldn’t like a mini landmine for the back yard. This is the pellet gun I use for squirrel and other vermin hunting FX M3 22 caliber 25 Grain pellet at 920 fps. EFFD860B-C81B-4F97-822D-30BC369B9438_1_105_c.jpeg

Here'e what it took to keep the squirrels out of the crawlspace at the cabin:
3/8" rebar frames, expanded metal welded to the rebar and heavy-gauge sceeen wire to keep the squirrel's evil midget accomplices (mice) out.

I feel like everyone here just wants an excuse to shoot squirrels.
I’ll say it a third time GRANULATED PREDATOR URINE.
What’ll take more time? Sprinkling some of that around your property once a week or sitting around with a pellet rifle and waiting to shoot one squirrel at a time?
I also bet there are coatings that will deter wildlife from chewing on your wood. I don’t think they would want a mouthful of wood treated with SIKKENS SRD
Or even some of those plug in frequency emitters that keep rodents away.

Perhaps counseling and an emotional support chipmunk would be a better solution?

Actually taking out a few works very well. I took out about 6 or 7 in the first week I moved in. Have not had a problem in the 6 years since.
They learn where danger is.

Those frequency emitters are junk. I catch the most mice in my attached garage right near that POS.

Squirrels are for target practice.

Nature should be respected. If you don’t want squirells chewing on your house then humans should start using materials that squirells can’t / don’t want to chew.

I wonder if they used to chew on asbestos siding?
