Greetings: picked up a set of Channellock picks part number HP4A. with the demise of Pratt-Reed, Channellock found a new supplier for their four piece pick set and from looking at the shape of the new handles, I think they chose Mayhew. Anyway, it's a nice no frills get the job done pick set. you get the usual straight, 90 degree, hook, and complex pick. approx 5 inches long overall, 100% made in the USA. Nice blue handles that are the same shape as the handle found on the Mayhew mini pry bar set. For you peeps that can't get enough of Channellock blue or made in the USA tools, this set is for you

By the way, the Channellock pick set runs about $16, while the Mayhew pick set with black blades and orange handles runs $25 and up. Go figure :dunno:

I don't really need another pick set, but I'll still pick up a set or two when they show up local to me.

Oooh, those look nice. I'm still using my Ullman made Craftsman branded ones, but I'm gonna have to snag a set of those Channellock picks. Those handles look nice. :)

They look nice. Are the handles thick, or thin? The pick set I have is the cheap orange handle one they sell at AutoZone, and I would really like a set with thicker handles, in order to reduce wrist pain when using them.

Are they as small as the former style?

Edit: Amazon lists them as 3" shafts. Same as Tekton and 1/4" longer than the former style.

For thicker handle picks I like the mayhew with the black and red triangular handles. They come in short and long.

Be nice if they put out the 61A with that handle.
It wouldn't surprise me if they did. A while back, Mayhew bought Bestway Tools, which sold (and still does, I believe) replacement bits for 6-in-1 drivers. Mayhew could pick up where Pratt-Read left off and start making domestic (or partially domestic in the case of 6-in-1 drivers) screwdriver for other brands.

Mayhew does have a line of Torx drivers, that are made here, I believe. I wouldn't mind seeing them make additional drivers, for their own brand and even other brands.

My only problem with Mayhew is that the crazy man that owns JDTOOLCO hates their guts. I love his rants. That dude is a piece of work and he does deliver great tools at good prices but the show he puts on is amazing.
