DeWalt Hood Light....Worth the Price?

Anyone here have experience with the DeWalt Hood Light? Pros/Cons? It looks like it would be extremely handy, and I like that's its cordless and folds up. I'm not too crazy about the price, but if its well built and is going to last I'm fine spending the $$. All my cordless tools are DeWalt so I don't want to switch to another battery platform.

Yes, I bought this for my home shop.

I use it under hood, also when working under vehicle, I used when vehicle on lift

Also the attachment allows various twist and grips to be achieved, I used on roll cage mounts and used when working on inside of vehicles.

I have one as well. Plenty of light for my needs. I like it will stand on end and work for area lighting. Lasts a good long while on a 5Ah battery.

Point of interest, only goes to 74". *Maybe* less between 'hooks', not sure as I don't have one. My Matco underhood light only goes to about 6', it will not span full size pickup hoods. I usually rig something up with tiedown straps to extend it, but ***** that I have to do that on a $200 light.

Also, this sort of light on rechargable is a little goofy to me. I have a cheapy HF rechargable that I almost never use. When I put my underhood light up it's on for 12+ hours. I like that it's corded and just on all the time. I use cordless lights for spot/task specific lighting in conjunction with the 'always on' underhood light.

I had a HF battery powered underhood light, and also found its run time lacking. If it had an AC power option, I'd still have it, and I didn't see that feature listed on the subject DeWalt .

You make some good points. I'll measure the hood on my truck to make sure it would work (I drive a Tundra).

My use is a home shop, so it won't be on 12 hours+. I'm lucky to get a few hours at a time for my kind of projects.

Invariably, I get a phone call, or lunch, or see something shiney and walk away for hours. I have 5-6 rechargeable lights so theres a steady stream of replacements available.

There is no way to hook up AC line to the light, however if you have this light there is a good chance you'll have multiple batteries. I have never run a 5ah down while using it, but I doubt its been on for more than several hrs at time though.
