So back in the day I worked at a school that taught construction, and I spent a ton of time watching the cement masonry instructor and asking alot of questions. To be honest, I always admired and respected what cement masons do and what they can create. I have a basic understanding of what they do and why they do it, at the surface level, I’m no expert but I think I may know a bit more than your average DIY’er. (Even if its ever so slightly)

Fast forward several years, and I’d really like to start doing some DIY concrete work around the house. I have a few concrete tools- small finshing trowel, and edger; but thats about it.

If anyone here has any sugguestions on DIY friendly tools that you use and/or recommend, I’d like to hear about them. In the short term I’m looking to secure a Bull Float and maybe a concrete ********.

One of the nice things about masonry, no where near as many tools and powered tools necessary. I wont say they are the best but Marshalltown tools have been good for me.

FWIW I bought a very simple ******** from Walmart.com. Same machine as Harbor Freight but half the price, $57 iirc. One the other hand, a sawzall with no blade held against form does a pretty good job.
