There's a new Armstrong catalog available for download at Armstrongtools.com There seems to be more pliers, tool storage, blue-black versions of the Craftsman Pro screwdrivers, and Armstrong appears to have absorbed the 36 tooth, pear shaped quick release ratchets with knurled handle from the K-D line. Unfortunately, the round head fine tooth quick release version didn't make the move from KD to Armstrong line. There's probably more KD items that moved. There's also an offer for a free t-shirt if you sign up for their newsletter.

I signed up for the news letter but it doesn't ask for a size, unless its in my email

I think it may be one of those one size fits most offers where they're only offering one size.:headscrat

Merkava, yes those Armstrong sockets aren't very pretty and except for being offered in a few more sizes under the Armstrong name, they're the same as Craftsman. Yes, they even have your favorite double staked retention notches in the female square drive end.:D

Fedwrench. Are you saying they are just rebadged craftsman or vise versa? I Thought the Armstrongs would be better than craftsman>:headscrat

They do look an awful lot like the Sears socket:

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00945867000P?prdNo=10&blockNo=10&blockType=

The radius on the edge may be a little different.

It looks like they used the same etching process, but it was performed by a drunken ape on the Armstrong socket.

They appear to at least be from the same OEM, which is Danaher.

Went to the website to sign up for the newsletter and Wisconsin is not on the drop menu for placing your address:wtf:. Going to contact them later to let them know. Noticed also at the bottom of the page it is Apex tool group not Danaher. Merkava 4 should enjoy that:bounce:

They offer some 1/4" sockets that aren't in the Cman line... 1/8" 6pt (shallow & deep) and 15mm in both 6 (shallow & deep) & 12pt (shallow only).

The "I need to fill every peg in my Hanson" guys will appreciate that... :bounce:

I'm saying they're the same sockets regardless of which name is stamped on it. The size, fit, finish, and weight is the same. There is a difference in finish quality between individual sets of Craftsman sockets and the ones you get in those huge sets. Visit a sears and look at the sets of sockets hanging on the racks or the individual sockets especially the newer Dual Marked sockets. Most of the individual sockets and the racks of sets aren't finished too bad. Compare those to the large piece sets and half price combo sets of sae and metric sockets and there is a difference in finish quality.
I would have thought that the Armstrong sockets would have been more like the Matco sockets but, they're not. The Craftsman and Armstrong chrome sockets are the same right down to Merkava's favorite double stake retention in the square drive. I don't know why Armstrong makes a 3/8 drive 26mm socket but, skips 24mm?:headscrat

Just curious what you guys REALLY think that feature is for?

They claim it holds the socket on better, but deep-down I think it's for something else. Maybe a way they started marking their defective sockets or something.
