Hi,
Well...I'm not hung up on, "Made in USA", like some.

I'm all for rebuilding this Country, but seems others are not.

I would of rebuilt the USA Built Craftsman Ratchet but not with a $30 Kit.

At some point you have to take care of yourself, just as our "Leaders" have done!

Don't forget PROTO for US Made.

The Pittsburg PRO, line at HF, is Taiwan Made and get good reviews, at a good price, also their Warranty is great, that I have seen!62287_W3.jpg

Not to put too fine of a point on it, but I will anyways.

"Rebuilding" your old USA made ratchet does pretty much zero as far as "rebuilding the country" is concerned.

Neither does unlimited lifetime warranty exchanges.

Neither does my drawer of old but still quite usable Craftsman sockets.

At least as far as this topic is concerned, "rebuilding the country" will only happen if people actually buy USA made product, in quantity. See Cliffs Notes on USA made Malco Eagle Grip Pliers for reference.

I, like my father, am an old school Craftsman fan. I've got a bunch of the older 32 and 36 tooth ratchets, even some 24 tooth 3/8" drive, and they all work fine, no issues whatsoever. I do take care of them, taken apart from time to time cleaned and lubed. Some I've rebuilt with new USA made kits and are as new. Keep in mind that most people who wrench couldn't afford tool truck brand tools and Craftsman tools were the cat's meow for the average Joe. They were of good quality, generally affordable, and the lifetime warranty was certainly a selling point with Sears stores everywhere at the time.

I say this having owned or currently own Snap-on, Proto, ProAmerica, Challenger (Proto sub-line) Blackhawk, Wright, Williams, Harbor Freight, Blue Point, Walden's/Stevens, S-K, Plomb, and probably some other brands I don't remember at the moment. My Williams tools, metric wrenches, were actually made in Taiwan. Chinese made Craftsman tools were, IMO, of average quality at best. Usable but nothing more.
