Is there anything sturdier than Makita’s interlocking cases as storage options?

The dewalt tough system is proving to be a great system. I've had them in my truck for 2 years & no issues, the only truly modular system. I can remove any box without taking the one above it off. The folding brackets give me the whole cargo area if I need it, plus I can switch out boxes from racks in my shop. 2 years driving to NYC everyday is a good test & the portable hand truck is nice to have in general.

While I agree, I have to say that only dewalt made their system to fit independently on brackets. And the big plus is the brackets fold, no one else has this. I don't love dewalt or any brand but they have a good system, now they need to add more options.

Makita = Systainer = Festool (and couple other euro brands)

has long been THE mobile organizer system, with decades of insert options, layouts, mods, and inspiration.

Perhaps not the most sturdy, it is tough and handles most trades abuse.

That being said, some of the newer systems are tougher but with tradeoffs

ex Milwaukee's Packout- def tuff, but very heavy, expensive, and usable space suffers

The Makita cases use the Systainer Classic design, which I think is two or at least one Sytainer generations old at this point.
The Makita cases are, or at least were made in China using the patented Systainer design, so the cases could interlock with the Classic systainers, and sort of, with the current systainers, but with differences in design.
I’m not sure how the quality really compares as far as plastic and molding.
The main advantage to the Makita interlocking cases over the current systainer cases is price.
Systainer cases have gotten expensive.

Metabo boxes are tough and strong pricing is pretty good. They sell a roller wheel kit. Got mine at Bakers Gas welding. You can stand on them because that just what happens at the job site, somebody too lazy to get a stand or ladder so they stack um and stand on them.

I am not in the market, but I check them out in the store. I'd Systainer system from
  • Festool
    Berner Bera Clic/+
  • Hitachi Hit-Case
  • Makita MakPac
  • Metabo Metabox/MetaLoc
  • Mafell Max/T-Max
  • Starmix Starbox
  • Systra Modul

Between all the vendors there is going to be the exact one for your needs. Some Makita tools come in these boxes now.

The Milwaukee boxes are super super heavy before you put anything into to them.

Pretty sure that Tanos is the OEM for Systainer and the other similar ones.

They used to be able to be purchased directly from a German distributor. If more than a few were bought at a time, the price wasn't as bad as buying Systainers one at a time locally in the USA (shipping on only one or two killed the deal) I haven't looked recently.

Woodcraft and Amazon had some Tanos selection.

Tanos has a large variety of containers, and some versions are brand specific.

Another vote for the Milwaukee Packout. Great locking system and tons of options for them. Seems they are constantly adding to the selection. Take a look at some videos on line on the different systems.

Home Depot has a special on Packout until the end of the month. Spend $299.00 and get $90.00 off. Bought my daughters boyfriend a three stack with wheel for Christmas with this deal.
