Cornwell truck in the wild

I was born and raised in South Florida...Publix deli/subs can't be beat. But their prices are ridiculous, now.

Also, I believe when my dad was still buying off tool trucks he never had a Cornwell truck come by his shop. This was at least ten years ago, though. I can't say I've ever been on a truck, myself (maybe when I was younger while at his shop). I'd love to check them out.

I've seen a couple Gearwrench trucks near my house in northern Oakland County. I may have even seen a Cornwell. I need to keep my eyes peeled.

I have done a lot of travelling and still am unable to say I've seen the mythical Cornwell truck in the wild.

BUT.. when (if) I do find one I'm going to lose my **** and my wife will most likely smack me for scaring her

Cornwell trucks are so rare that people have to start tomorrow talking beef prices because they don't even know what a Cornwell truck is.

The only thing notable about a Cornwell truck is their stuff is only somewhat overpriced vs insanely overpriced (like Snap On) for their mainline stuff and not too badly priced for much of their relabeled stuff. Their sales flyer stuff is usually reasonable.

I don’t understand this board’s obsession with them. If you want Cornwell tools you get basically the same thing buying any US made industrial brand tools.

That's cool that Cornwell is considered an industrial brand.

They aren’t, I’m saying you get the same quality (and honestly probably better) if you buy an industrial brand and you save more rather than wasting your time hoping a ******** truck wanders by to sell you a tool that isn't exactly anything special.

Ok, thank you for clarifying.

We haven’t had one in about a year since the last guy retired.

The ****** part is there is a Cornwell guy 5 miles away in a different state who isn’t allowed to come to our area (don’t know if he’d even have the time). Talked to him on the phone once.

I once heard, that Cornwell is hyper territorial sensitive when compared to Snap On and Matco. Franchise agreements can be a wonky thing. Even if it means losing sales in some cases.

I mean, snap-on was pretty bad to deal with, too. Our local rep *****. Hasn’t been to our shop in months. Sends a text to other guys (not me, of course) asking “do you need anything?” He actually owes me money from tool orders I cancelled after they couldn’t deliver them.

I called snap on asking for a list of route owners in my area (Washington and Oregon) as I’m a field service tech and need support all over the area. They told me they couldn’t provide that information.

Ridiculous.

I'm about 130 miles from Cornwell's home and I haven't seen one around for years.

Probably figures if deadbeats can screw him, hey, why not screw my other customers like the lowlifes do me...
My advice is if he owes you chase his *** down and force him to pay up, just like he would do to you if you owed him money. You never know - he could be circling the drain, and figures the collateral from hosing loyal customers isn't a thing, since he'll be selling used condoms, er, cars in 2023...

I've owned a service shop in western Maine since 1985. Saw one Cornwell truck show up here, bought some tools and never showed up again, that was 25 years ago. Snap On is even spotty up here. Even when someone owes snap on money may be a couple years between the last so dealer who went out and the new one coming in. Sad i am invested fairly heavy with snap on stuff, but service isn't there anymore. Think our longest stretch was 7 years without a local dealer.

Saw one recently. Some time ago, I saw 6-8 in a parking lot at a local restaurant. Dinner meeting, I guess.

Over the last few years I saw 3 Cornwell trucks in MA. One travelling on Rt 95 (saw couple of times, I think near Danvers), one near Winchester/Woburn border and one today.
I was leaving a European Delicacy store in Allston and saw a Cornwell truck in the parking lot. I approached a gentlemen and asked him if I could take a picture for GJ thread (it's always more interesting to have a picture...) We got acquainted and spoke for a little. I got invited to see the truck inside - appeared to be well stocked and very clean. Nice to see our Boston Bruins emblem right by the door!
David ("DJ") is a very nice guy and is working in the area for a very long time. I got his card in case one of our members needs something and would like to buy locally.

Enjoy the picture!

P.S. I am not sure if it's allowed by the site rules, but I could also make a picture of DJs businesscard (if not - feel free to send me a message - will provide the contact information)

We lost our Winn Dixie’s up here back in the early 2000s so the first time I shopped at once since then was last year in FL.

Screw Publix. Good bakery and deli but the prices are insane. It’s where the Basic White Girls love to shop for some inexplicable reason because they feel it’s “fancy”
Publix is where the transplants shop here, Food Loin for the local commoners and Piggly Wiggly for the so enamored..

Guess what - was passing Winchester today and saw another truck. The driver was leaving and I did not have a good shot at a cool rear picture of Cornwell emblemA1.jpgA2.jpg

I regularly see the Cornwell truck in our town (That's his truck below). MATCO and Snap-On come around occasionally too but not nearly as regularly as the Cornwell guy. I have never seen a MAC truck in Colorado.

I don't work in a facility that is serviced by the trucks so I have no clue on the quality of service but the regularity of seeing the Cornwell truck in the rural foothills to me screams he's probably the best guy to deal with.
