plomb tools "wheel about jr" clone project

Making a plomb "wheel about junior" since I can't find one on the face of the planet. I've never even seen a picture of one on the internet nor talked to anyone who collects plomb that knows where one is... Lots of studying catalog illustrations. Had a 2 drawer pressteel tool mobile I found at a yard sale locally for 20 bucks a few months ago. This worked out because the pressteel tool mobiles had a much larger door, as they only had 2 drawers. I sectioned the box 8.75". Reshaped the top surface lip to resemble plomb boxes. Going to build a 3 inch cap for the bottom and lengthen the top above the door 3/4 inch. It won't be exactly the same, as the wheel about was around an inch narrower and less deep but I'm not going to go through 12 feet of welding, over an inch here and there. No one that sees it will know any different unless I tell them. Found some castors that are consistent with pre war tool mobile height. It's coming along. It will be painted to of course match the 9998 master chest I just completed, as well as the signature white stripes. as for the decal, going to do a plomb tools stencil on the door.

getting pretty close to paint. my facebook friend jim, who sells decals on ebay is making me a custom 10 inch wide "plomb tools co" stencil for the door. should look pretty trick. and be proportionate to the door size

Painted it red. Sanded 400. Put on the stripes. Next is clear

All that's left is clear coat and cut and buff. The stencil turned out great. We took a image off a 9990 and blew it up, for the stencil. (Facebook friend Jim did it for me) I have no idea what lettering would have been on the wheel about jr, but this seemed the most appropriate. Size of the stencil is pretty consistent with the size of the stampings and lettering on the tool mobile variations of the era. Digging out the adhesive stencil inside the lettering with tweezers, sucked but came out great. #plombtoolbox #plomb #wheelaboutjr #plombtools #plombtoolslosangeles #plombtoolmobile

yeah the top box is a single stage, "premier red." i cut and buffed that. the wheel about jr project was an after thought. to match, i used the same red sing stage. sanded the red. added the white stripes and lettering. sanded the white. then cleared over the whole thing and cut and buffed
