LOL, let's just say it was a lightbulb moment, when I realized not only that it wasn't broken, but also who made it. After typing the above I went and dug through GJ,found the link to collecting SnapOn and with your info of No.6 found the catalog pages. Amazing what help from smart people, a keyboard and coffee will get you on a Sunday Morning.

It says $3 in the catalog.

I’ll give you $4 for it.

lol , Thanks for the offer, but I flipped it onto Ebay Friday night and accepted a Buy-it-Now offer Saturday morning . The buyer shall remain nameless but I believe is pretty prominent here on GJ when it comes to Snap On. It really didn't make sense for me from a user standpoint, nor a collectors standpoint to keep it.

Keep documentation for when you fly! :see:
“There is an art, it says, or rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. … Clearly, it is this second part, the missing, which presents the difficulties.”

I have been way behind on this thread but, wow, a lot of great hauls recently to close out the year.
Especially Ghost, you deserve another you ****!
I haven’t been doing much picking but managed to get a few things this past week. They will be in their own post.

And for the “what is it” category. 1/2”-3/8” adapter for size reference. The inside is 3/8” drive the whole way through with the ridges/ knurled portion around the outside. 6BE41E3D-4FED-4C01-9F52-EA1F2A5B7DF1.jpeg

Next was a storage unit dig. Unfortunately quite a bit of what I wanted to look at was missing from the original photos but I found a few things and managed to spend $50.
Still in the truck is a homemade cart of some kind, a stack of 1/2” acrylic or plexiglass ( I need to look at it closer yet) and a treated 2x4 and 4x4 that I can use on a current project. 352E33ED-2623-47F7-BE17-31C1DD657F5A.jpeg
3/8” SK socket set but with an Easco 721109 ratchet and missing an extension according to the list.99A04CA0-70EB-4AEA-9F9F-9C37DFCCFA13.jpeg
A few hammers. Brass Temco 2 and another I larger one I can’t make out, plumb 32 oz masons hammer I believe with a newer handle, Fairmount ball pien and an unmarked. 6AAE0A8E-73FD-4C78-B7B9-FB646BBE764A.jpeg
A Coleman 220 h lantern with a storage case. There was another empty storage case that I accidentally left behind.
00F45BE8-5A7D-4BD9-96DD-93F6ED8EBDC7.jpeg
An assortment of wrenches and chisels/ punches, the plvmb pebble 1130 is unfortunately bent. Wiss C4a shears and crescent 940-6 snips. Challenger 3/8” ratchet and a few 1/4” sk sockets.D1122B58-E810-415A-A8DD-8217C42AA8B4.jpeg
Some files and rasps, not that I needed more, but oh well, along with a few craftsman screwdrivers, a Mayhew 482 pry bar, ridgid 12”, and a plvmb 5432 1” socket. 8D5B90D3-16B8-4A54-9065-2926A8C40CE2.jpeg
Lastly, a minnow trap that I will most likely give my brother.

Welcome back! It's the **** end of a 1/4" spinner. Put a ratchet on it and you can use the spinner as an extension. Chances are it came out of a deteriorated plastic handle or a gorilla put a hinge handle on the spinner and over-torqued it.

Now that you're back, be sure to vote!

Having one in my toolbox, I believe that it is the 3/8” drive adapter for a K-D #104 distributor wrench. I found pictures on eBay.

Found a picture of mine. Nice grab on the minnow trap. I buy every decent one I see. Live minnows are allowed as bait in Tahoe and Fallen Leaf lakes.659FAC7A-7765-4BD5-9341-475B902EB861.png

Tried new hobby this year, go Saturday mornings (sometimes other days) garage/estate sales. Buy some tools/stuff; kept track, resold extra stuff not want. Kept track see how it went. Came out more money than started with, and keep couple nice things. Lots of fun there, not sure it worth the time compared working, but more fun than work!

Wow. I breezed right over the 3/8" drive spec and yammered on about a 1/4" spinner **** end. Classic failure to RTFQ!

Managed to stop at a barn sale after 7 hours on the road for work just before he was getting ready to close down for the day. Had to bypass a delay that added an extra hour 30 and got there with 10 minutes.

Had my eye on two pieces from his advert and came away with one(other was a Elyria Ohio vise that ended up being beat and ground on too much to salvage with my current knowledge) plus some other stuff that was at the right price(doubles or triples of stuff I already have) and another ratchet I haven't seen before.
PXL_20221220_213752245.jpg
KD O2 socket (if I'm remembering correctly, have two but never had to use them)
Great neck 36 and 34mm
Power torque 32mm
2x Duralast 36mm
Sure•Bilt ratchet(think it was 3/8)
Matco 1/4 ratchet(the one piece I was watching for, rusted but looks like it's all collective rust not penetrating so it should clean up nice)

All for the price of $13.

Edit: Matco is cleaned up and functional enough, seems like spring tension on the pawl is a bit high but works right with a socket on.

Also haven't found anything on Sure•Bilt other than apparently it's cheap dollar store quality sold by AutoZone. This one doesn't seem to match up though with the dual pawl quick release head with all the detail. Will probably start a thread on it once it's put back together if I don't find anything before then.

Saturday I hit the flea for the first time in 4-6 weeks. Finally getting around to posting:

Acoustic guitar/soft case ($40....I checked with a friend who's much more musically inclined than me: "buy it before they figure out what they have.")
Ken-Tool T96 4-way lug wrench (1-1/2", 1-1/4", 1-1/16", 13/16" square)
3 USA files and a 1/2" cold chisel
Duffle bag of GI uniforms

The lug wrench is interesting, as the arms are 27" wide. The 1950 catalog (oldest I can find) called for 25-1/2" and modern calls for 27-1/2". Not sure when the shift occurred, but too new for my WW2 stuff.

Files are from The Cleveland File Co (12"), Nicholson and Black Diamond (both 14"). Looks like Cleveland File Co. was active from 1882 to 1990s or 2000, and TM'd "Super Duty" for files in 1928; Simonds bought out the Super Duty trademark in 2004, after it expired in 2000.

It's a good thing the uniforms in the duffle bag were essentially free - size XS Short, or 33 and 39...one for a SPC Vo, the other for PFC Martinez. The last time they MIGHT have fit me was 6th grade! I wanted the bag as a user, since it zips open, rather than going from the top, in the normal style of a GI duffle bag, since at least World War 2.

[Edited to remove erroneous brand ID of the guitar]

Gpw, what fret does the body start at? It looks more Parlor/Audotorium sized, judging by the waist. The bigger dreadnaughts had less of an "hourglass"/"figure 8" look. I have both an old Yamaha FG-110, as well as a more modern FG dread, and the sound is very different. One is higher and the other boom-ier.

Cruzan, good eye! It's definitely smaller than "standard" guitars. The guitar body starts on the 12th fret. It's not a "good" American brand (updated my initial post with the correction) - it's a cheap Chineseum guitar, and needs some more cleaning and a new set of strings. I was really chuffed about a brand name guitar for cheap. Should have had my brain engaged at the flea! Guess it shows how out of practice I am.

Yeah, I love mine for crosspicking and getting a "brighter" sound when playing. Google Martin 000, and you can see why I immediately IDed off the narrow waist. Mine is also a 12th fret, and I honesly prefer it vs the "standard", even though I have XL hands.

Didnt know they were making new cheap imports in that size. What brand? Or is it an older import from a now defunct brand (Harmpny, Flavia, etc) that has been re-bought?

Happy Winter Solstice to all you Druids out there!

The tool sales have dried up for the rest of the year, so nothing to report.

You have three (3) more days to vote for your favorite Picker and next year's Thread Host so please take a few moments to do that before your internet is knocked out by the storms. For you phone viewers, turn to landscape to see the links in my sig block.

For all who are venturing out this week, bundle up to stay warm and bring extra gear in case you are caught out in the cold. Be smart--make those last-minute runs to the grocery now! The toilet paper is almost gone!

I'll wish everyone a Merry Christmas now, because if it's cold in Texas for more than a couple of days, we'll be without power for the next week...

Ok I had to do some shopping/liquor run/gift exchange stuff and my nearest Costco doesn't sell liquor so I was able to parlay a Costco run with an Estate sale I had seen ,but wasn't enthused enough to make a 1 stop trip 30 miles one way.BUT I'm glad I went. Picked up a complete SpeedMaster socket set, 1/2" drive from 7/16" to 1-1/4" , some loose SpeedMaster 3/8" drive sockets and spinner handle, a Cornwell deep socket with the pictured hex/square insert with spring tab/plunger to lock onto the socket,a Wizard deep socket ,a Wright shallow socket and the best of all this "shelf" off the wall in the toolroom. I first had to ask if it was for sale, then how much. I had a number in my head ,if they volley'd with"how much would you pay?" , better for me was their number was lower than mine and essentially the tools were free99. After getting it off the wall(and explaining 3 times my Milwaukee impact and bits, which I had retrieved from my car, were NOT FOR SALE) I paid for my purchases and headed to the car. Costco was a success, self checkout line short, quick, plenty of Margaritas in the house now. Back to the "shelf" turns out its 59-3/8" wide, exactly the length of this very oak desk I am sitting at typing from, I believe I have just found my new riser for my monitors 9-3/4" h x 10-1/2" deep, x 59-3/8" long 13 drawers,1 locking door, with keys!!! Factory made, similar stamping and drawer labeling as we'd see on Union and Gerstner chests. I was able to get the scotch taped callouts and the sticker off the door with a heat gun. I may try and give it a bath in some Howards Feed and Wax or even my newer Mohawk"Plush" furniture cleaner/restorer. and sigh..clean off my desk, which may be the biggest chore.

And shortly after typing the above message I made arrangements to pick this up tomorrow a.m. Man I am out of room....I'll have to secure more basement space ,its warmer in the winter anyhow. These are not my pics, borrowed from the ad. I'm hoping all the drawers are full. But will be satisfied if they are not.

Thanks! I thought it looked familiar but I couldn't place it. Now that I see that I realize my dad has one of those distributor wrenches in his ammo can toolbox that he always kept in his vehicle.
That lantern case you left behind is probably worth more that the common green lanterns...
The other case looked the same but was green. I meant to grab both but things get set aside while digging and then get left behind.

I thought I was done for the year but ended up picking up a few more items in one stop at a place that does liquidations.
One 60” tall, 30” wide and 28” deep vidmar storage cabinet that is still in my truck until I can make space for it. It has 5 shelves inside.
78821198-87B2-4C2D-ABB9-FD8982098C17.jpeg
Two 33” tall Vidmar cabinets of the same width and depth. With 2 shelves each. One is on the workbench for now and the other stored in the bed of my other truck.

I also grabbed a craftsman roller bearing 6 drawer bottom box and friction slide top box with damage that I’m not sure if I’ll keep or not yet.

Lastly two socket boxes with an Easco 3/8” breaker bar, Wright 3/8” 12” extension, Easco 6” extension, 3/8” Easco universal, deep sockets, and swivels, and 3 mostly complete sets of 3/8” drive 1/4”-7/8” 12pt sockets either Wilde, Wright, or Easco. Almost everything appears new.

I had to dip into the billfold for this one but was out the door at $380. I would really love Vidmar cabinets with drawers but I think I can make these work for now, if….. I can get my shop rearranged so they fit.

Not sure on age, but it doesn’t even have a brand name that I can ID. It does say “Made in China” on the back, but figure no need to post that pic

Class 1 Kit, how to build a Guitar? What was Class 2 Kit, piano, organ? ;)

Man, some of you are killing it here in the last days before Christmas. I may get a chance to look at a wood stash today, after the other vultures get thru it.

That shelf is a very cool looking piece, I don’t recall seeing another one like it. That will look awesome on your desk. Nice score!

In case you don't realize, that was prior military. That sticker on the lid is a Federal Stock Number.

I didn't know you guys played. I love parlor guitars! I have a few larger guitars, but I reach for this Gibson B-15 more than any other. It's the guitar I learned on and I've had it since I was 13 years old. The B-15 was introduced in 1967, as a kind of travel guitar, probably for the last of the hippie/folk music market of the 1960s and early ‘70s. It has a lot of sound for its smaller dimensions and I love the simple bare-bones look. I do have smaller hands and the neck is just shy of 1-1/2" wide at the first fret and not even 1-3/4" when it meets the body. The serial number (880879) is visible on the back of the headstock, indicating a manufacture date of 1969. (Check out the old, old (old!) set list still taped to the back. :)) My dad made the case, which hinges at the bottom and clasps at the top. Its resemblance to a child's casket always drew a lot of looks and questions! It's been to several different continents and back. (Check out the date on the airlines sticker. :)) The handle, long broken, was a strap off of an old trolley car. I'll stop there before I cry.

I dont play a ton, picked it back up seriously a coule years ago. Got the FG-110 a couple months back, from the original owner. Something about the richness that comes from aged wood.means they just sounds better than a new one to me. First "tried" to learn on a late 70s Yamaha, with super high action, that my dad bought when he was younger. Got a bit, but probably needed the neck reaet to truly be playable.

GPW, wondering if they built it as a 3/4 guitar to learn on, rather than a true parlor, based on the sticker.
