Michigan And Florida too!
Even repurposed as a coffee table? They price them pretty high in my corner of PA.
I've been on the hunt for one of those for about three years
Even. Old house is chock full of old stuff.

Same.

If you'd be up for arranging some kind of transpo, let me know. It probably didn't sell. I'll find out what he's asking.

If I was back in Michigan I would but I'm wintering in FL and don't have the room for that project.

My New Years resolution is to reclaim my garage space back from my youngest offspring. He moved back in from college during Covid and is now well employed and able to afford moving out on his own. Has a March 1 deadline. With his stuff gone, one bay will open up with the other full of stuff the wife and I have accumulated from ES and the like over the years. That is destined to be moved out in 2023! Options will be sell, trash, donate or keep. Wish me luck!

The dish looks interesting. What is it?
Two sopes. Not too unlike tacos, but they have a fried bread bottom with refried beans spread on top, these had barbacoa meat (Mexican bbq) and topped with lettuce, avocado, tomatoes, cheese and sour cream (or maybe crema). Tasty, as my yogurt and coffee was getting thin :)

From the left behind category: Union toolbox which came from a detachment of a NC National Guard outfit. Too new for my tastes, but the tray and interior details weren’t much different from its WW2 predecessor.

After a few seconds of google, might should have picked up that box: https://history.army.mil/html/forcestruc/lineages/branches/ord/0694mntco.htm

We are at 3.72” since midnight here on the coast. 92 is closed due to mudslides, and a tree down blocking 1 north.

Pumping excess water off the flat roof. I’m not going anywhere, even tho there is a sale advertising tools, in town.

Almost to your mark ourselves now - it's a deluge!

I have a lower section in my side yard (the family calls it the "Pit") adn its near overflowing as its drain is plugged. I'l try clearing it again tomorrow, but it is nearly spilling over the back edge...

The bricks to the right are the top of several steps down to a brick "Floor". The water is lapping at the bottom of the top brick. To the left there is a brick ramp that curves around and goes to the front patio. So I guess I have a mini boat ramp now...

As the last wet day of the year winds down—and this lap of the never-ending Garage Sale race clicks over to the next, ;) I’d like to say thanks to everyone for sharing their interesting discoveries, sage advice, wisdom, expertise, research knowledge and enthusiasm—all of which contributed to another year of an on-going enterprise on Garage Journal that many members consider their favorite and most interesting on the site. I know I do.

As I stretch out my hand to pass the baton into the capable and sticky grip of Smokeshow69, I will say I thoroughly enjoyed my year as host. It was fun monitoring the discussions, recording the ***** and keeping mikeinri in check! ;)

I have an observation I’d like to point out to our members: Like many things in life, there is a flow and ebb to systems and this thread seems to be no different. For the first several years, participation (measured in the number of posts) was up one year and down the next, but for the last five years there has been a steady decrease in the yearly posts. This is certainly nothing to be alarmed about, but something to be aware of, postulate causes for and consider opportunities to reverse the trend.

For me, a major contributing cause was Covid-19—it changed/influenced the habits of most humans. The type of sales that most of us are drawn to draw crowds and crowds became dangerous viral vectors. (I’m not a doctor, but I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express, once.)

Another possible cause is the ridiculous position expressed by several members that they have too many tools or they have nowhere to put more tools! This mental block prevents them from actively searching for additional treasures and therefore reduces their post count.

There are, of course, many more possible reasons to explain the waning participation, but what to do about it? I offer this suggestion: Recruit new blood. You know by sight that fargin bastage who always seems to get to the good stuff before you—well, deputize yourself as a Garage Sale Thread Ambassador and invite him to join us! You probably have a buddy in another state with an interest in tools—tell him about us and all the advantages the site has to offer—this is especially worthwhile since he won’t be in direct competition with you!

Some of you may say "Quality Over Quantity" and you may have a good point. There is no arguing against the excellent contributions offered by many of you on this thread. I would counter by saying “The More, the Merrier!” Think of all those unrepresented areas of the country and world that have tool sales that could produce that rare or unusual piece that we would all go ape **** over—but, for now remain unknown.

Anyway, something to think about as we all wait these final few hours until the ball drops and Smokeshow welcomes us all to the 2023 Garage Sale Thread. Good Luck and Have Fun, Smoke!! I'll see you in the morning!

Well, with that prior post from our illustrious leader Old Radar, I wanted to take a moment to thank him for his fine leadership/guidance and overall moderating duties this year. He kept this band of rowdy pickers (motley crew is more like it) on track and facilitated a great thread. These will be hard shoes to fill but I am looking forward to the challenge. This thread really is my favorite on this entire forum and I am honored to be hosting the new thread. Ok , lets get this party started :)

@Old Radar Thanks again for hosting this year, and as always, giving us something to think about! I'm not sure if I should be honored for being singled out, but I'm going with it! But, lest you think you can join the ranks with my wife as being the only people who have ever (somewhat) contained me... YOU ****!!!

@Smokeshow69: Looking forward to your leadership in 2023!

Everyone else: It's a lot of fun interacting with you, and living somewhat vicariously through your hunts. I'll keep skimming for free stuff, especially if it's small enough to hide from the aforementioned wife, who REALLY wants her garage parking back...

Happy New Year, guys!!!

Adding to the "Job well done!" to OR! Each host has carried the torch with a slightly different gait, but all have done a great job! Enthusiasm for the job - it matters!

Some of your comments are all together funny when viewed in reference to my 2023 gs thread opening speech 😂👍. Especially since you posted this after I posted that speech but I don’t think you have read it yet?

Wait. WTF just happened!? Did I just black out for 3 hours and someone turned all the clocks back?! I know I've been drinking, but I haven't been drinking THAT much. Okay, this is certainly a new twist. I know you left coasters don't like that it turns midnight for all us right coasters 3 hours before you, but it's not even 6PM there yet! I'm sure your launch is terrific, Smoke, but on principle, I will not be opening that thread until the year 2023! Harumph. :)

Ha ha, I guess I will get off your lawn😂. OR laid down such an excellent commencement speech I couldn’t help but follow suit. It was perfect for the lead in 😉.

At my age, I'm trying to slow time down, not speed it up!! :) I'm looking forward to checking in tomorrow. :)

Meanwhile, kudos to 'Cuda. Unless someone sneaks in a late report, he's last haul of the year honors with that aluminum saw frame and blades.

That can opener is cool! I feel like it could be posted on the plomb thread with no kickback since it relates?

Too funny.

It's after midnight here, I guess it's safe to wander into the new thread...
