How to get color with BallistiX?

I’m ready to coat my 1200’ garage. The concrete floor is bare, clean and about 1 year old. I like the qualities of Ballistix, but I’m curious how to get some color with it. Questions:
Can you tint it?
Apply it over a stripe?
Apply over stain?
What products would I use for any of those options (tint, stripe, stain)?

Hi, Ballistix is compatible with all stains so you can stain your floor first with a stain or dye, and then apply the Ballistix over it with the matching sealer as a first coat.

Hello , so stain , sealer and then Ballistix ? Do we need to wait for it to dry etc ? Or do it right after the sealer ? Thanks .

Hi
Yes, that would be correct, apply the stain, let it cure for at least 24 hours, clean up any excess stain if any from the surface, seal with the Ballistix sealer, wait overnight, apply the Ballistix.

Can you elaborate on it?
If I want white or grey what is the recommended tint and sealer?

BallistiX is a clear, film-forming sealer. It cannot be tinted or made to create other colors. If you want a solid color, you would first need to apply epoxy, polyurea, etc. with the color you want. You would then apply BallistiX over that. Or, you can color stain the concrete first. Stains do not provide solid colors though. They create a mottled and variegated look of color to the concrete. Each slab reacts differently to stains.

Shea is 100% correct is this response. Dyes are transluscent and to dot cover a floor they only add color to it but allow the natural shades and variations of the concrete to show through. Once colored we would suggest using the Ballistix kit we sell which has the correct sealer and Ballistix topcoat in the kit.

'Tint's are a term we reserve for products used to 'color' a coating like an epoxy or polyaspartic that makes them opaque and then completely covers the floor with the color chosen. Most products we carry are pre-tinted, but we do have some products that get tinted in the field.

For an opaque finish (with or without flecks) our most popular products for garages is our Armorclad 100% solids epoxy, which is normally topcoated with urethane or polyasaprtic, and then the optional Ballistix. Sealer is not used when using Ballistix over an epoxy coated floor, it's only used on bare or dyed/stained concrete.

Just stain the concrete. It'll give you the appearance that I think you want. It's just like paining a car, apply the base coat. Ballistix is the clear coat.

To clarify the above, you need the Ballistix Sealer first over a stained floor, and then the Ballistix on top of that for the protection. If using Ballistix alone, you could need several coats as it could sink in and it's tricky to do that since once it starts to cure it won't stick to itself, hence why we recommend using the matching sealer as the base coat under Ballistix (plus would be more expensive since sealer is a lower cost prodcut).
