Friday collected the last of the kitchen units from my mums house

Had a great day in the garage today:) .
finished hanging the upper units
from this

to this

had a bit of luck with the units. As I didn't know what size units or how many units I getting after I got the first unit up I measured the space I had left which was 280cm and the units I had was 100cm,60cm,80cm and 40cm result!!!!

that left me with 3 units 2x 50cm units and a 40cm unit

so I built this

looks odd at the moment but I will run a piece of wood down the short edge to make an open end I will drill some holes for long bolts to run made rolls of wire

until tomorrow!!!!

I looked at it last night when I fitted it and didn't notice it only tonight when I went out.

I like it. If you leave it like that and just keep posting wide shots of projects on the bench, you'll meet a really large group of GJers who suffer from OCD. Actually, I'm not sure if there is a GJer who doesn't suffer from OCD.

Had a good night last night in the garage got a lot of jobs done.

but as soon as I when out my OCD kicked in and had to turn the cupboard door around, :eyecrazy:

Had to search the Net for info on the Burlington BerRetta. Interesting. If you have one it must be 30 years old. What kind of powerplant does it have?

My friend brought the plans for it in about 1986ish I built the engine and gearbox and that is where it sat until 1998 when I brought it from him took me four years to get it on the road and have been driving it ever since. Its no speed machine it sits on Triumph Spitfire running gear the engine is a 1296cc 4 cylinder. I have a Triumph 2000cc straight 6 in the workshop but at the moment just want to get it running on the small engine as
I have too many other project to finish first!!!

Got the car back together today after our little set back bolting the manifolds back on the car the exhaust manifold cracked when stripping it down I noticed a bolt which had been fitted to the manifold where the inlet should rest (I will take a picture)must of twisted the manifold. Started the car it now runs smooth and how it should and that's before we set the carbs probably. Also as the was in the workshop I have completed lots of extra jobs
replaced the front pads
fitted led dash bulbs
fitted led rear lamps
replaced rear wheel arch wiring
made brackets to support the front wings

Hoping to drive the car home this weekend and I can't wait
I have been waiting years to have the car running right

Was hoping to get garage 99% finished (I don't know if any garage get 100% finished!!!) and also finish my sons classic mini. But with the Mini having a lot more rust than we originally thought. We now have got it to a rust free shell  then its all gone out the window!! I drove to work two weeks ago
got out the car and ended face down on the ground in pain cut the story short I've Just come out of hospital are have a large piece of disc removed as when I went down the disc popped and was pressing on the nerves in one leg. Now I'm home all I can do is look at what heeds to be done but can't lift anything for the next 6 weeks!!! I am feeling like this is going to be the longest 6 weeks

But as I'm now stuck sitting in my chair and daytime TV has bored me already I have to catch up on all of your builds

well I'm back in the garage finally nearly 7 months later after my back operation I had a sore throat 3 weeks later I was being tested and treated for throat cancer!!! so it been a hard time dealing with the feeling sick and the tiredness that chemo does to you. I've finished the chemo and have a scan this Tuesday and the results a week later so fingers crossed for that. I did get out to my garage tonight to put some tools away and to start going though some boxes.

also found my son had taken over my garage with his classic mini rebuild !!!!

hopefully he will finish the engine rebuild soon and I can get my little garage back again as its difficult to sort the garage when you can't move in the garage

EW, thanks for posting, it's amazing how life can take a sudden and very unexpected turn. Making it through chemo is an accomplishment and I'm crossing fingers and sending positive thoughts your way. You've obviously been working hard on your health so I'm expecting high marks on your scan and other tests (unless high marks are bad).

Obviously your son is expecting you to get well because there's no way he's going to get that Mini back together by himself.

hopefully he should do most of it himself with me just guiding him or doing a little so hopefully he will learn how to look after his own cars!! that's how I learned from my dad but then I took it from car maintenance to full restorations.

Now I have to get my other son off his computer and out on his car!! wish me luck doing that

Evening EW,
That *****, and thats just the state of your garage ;) my daughters not getting the key to mine she'll fill it up with stuff of her own, probably pink in colour.

On a more serious note, best wishes for a positive result, I know how difficult chemo is.

Regards
Steve.

well at least it is all car related!!! lets hope he will be out with me sorting the place. I have told him the quicker it is sorted the quicker we can get his engine finished and back in

I'm back!! I haven't been on the site for a long time I am still in remission with the cancer I have had two scans so far next one is in September.

I have been busy in the garage with the mini the engine and gearbox is in and the interior floor has been lined in sound deadening and painted. I have also been helping a friend rewire his Triumph Spitfire Hurricane completely it has taken a lot longer than planed as I only get about 4 hours every Sunday and also the loom he had was from a different model and he also wanted to add lots of extras Hopefully one more visit and it will be done.

Now on a completely different matter has anyone had issues with photobucket as every time I look any lots of the posts including mine it says I have to upgrade my account and pay $40 a month!!!! Has anyone else had this if so have you changed to a different photo uploader if so who

Sorry to hear about the cancer, hope your checks remain clear. Not a good thing to have hanging over you, but best to focus on the positive things in life that take your mind off the health issues.

In terms of photos, I'd recommend you get a Flickr account it's about $50 for the year

Photobucket has released their ransomware on everyone. The cheapest alternative is to download up to seven pictures per post using the "manage attachments" button below. The after uploading right clock the image url, copy, and paste into the "insert image" icon above.

Glad to hear they're managing your cancer.

Move your pictures to Flickr.com. The hosting is free and the programing is easy to use.

My knowledge of all things British is quite limited and the following question demonstrates that. I thought the "Spitfire" and the Hawker "Hurricane" were two different airplanes.

I'll bet those ladies on the production line way back then could wire one up in a couple of hours and fit in time for a cup of tea and a scone or two.

No its nothing as fancy as an aeroplane. This is the Triumph Spitfire Mk3 then a company in the UK made a fiberglass body to replace the rusty spitfire one that you could just fit it on the Spitfire chassis and they called it the Hurricane. The job would of been easier if the new loom was the correct one for the car and he didn't have fog lamps, sat nav , overdrive and hazard lights (not sure but does he think he is going to brake down in a classic car!!!)as well as many more things . Also the guy who wired it when he body was fitted used a lot of household wiring!! EG he ran a house hold earth wire from the battery to the rear but the original loom had an earth in it!! and used screw in connectors. If he wanted to add an extra wire he would cut the insulation around two of the screw connectors and tape them together What a bodge. Now with new wiring and a new blade fuse box things are getting there. Hope then to get back into the garage very soon might even sneak out the tonight when the missis isn't looking

A lot of otherwise competent car hobbyists and even professionals are at a loss when it comes to electrical wiring and components. I have seen more than one bundle of spaghetti tucked behind a dashboard. I suspect the original builder added the household wire when he discovered fiberglass is not a conductor.

Ever inquisitive I did a Google search and found numerous pictures and threads about the Hurricane body for the Triumph Spitfire. It's really an ambitious concept when it comes to "Kit Car" replacement bodies. I'm certain your friend is happy with his purchase.

I'm Back!!! I didn't think it had been this long. But Over the past few years my cancer came back. It's now back in remission again I had everything thrown at me including a stem cell transplant. The company I worked for (Bristol Cars) also went into liquidation. I have been lucky enough to be able to get the parts stock from the liquidator with help from the owners club and with a friend set up our own company selling parts for Classic Bristol's. After 3 moves of location we are now settled into a warehouse. I am hoping that 2023 I can get back onto my garage and finally finish it off and finish some of my projects here are just a couple of them

Welcome back Graeme! Been a ho-hum five years for the most part. We don't see many Bristol 405 sedans here but I do remember seeing it in a 1958 Cars of the World catalog. I just Googled it and found a copy for sale. Snapped it up and I'll share the Bristol specs from that year when it arrives.

I will never forget going through that book page by page. It's probably the reason I didn't do as well as I should in school that year. Here's the index with the list of cars...

Good to hear you are in remission. I prefer cancer to be somewhere other than in me and I suspect you feel the same way. A friend went through a stem cell transplant and it did wonders.

It will be interesting to see the information from the book. Yes the stem cell helped with my recovery but at the time of going though I didn't think so 🤮🤮
