OK, so about 4 years ago my local Sears store was closing there doors. However they were having a clearance sale. I was in the market or a 1/2 drive air impact wrench. For just over $50 I walked out with one. It has served me very well. On the back of it the selector has three forward settings. Low, medium, and then high. If you turn the lever all the way to the left it removes almost anything you put it up against.
Now, on the very bottom below the anvil, there is a small Allen screw. Is this for lubrication and if so what type? grease or oil? Any ideas? Thanks, Ken

Most of the ones I have seen have "oil" stamped into the housing next to the oil port. I think many people just give a squirt of oil into the air fitting before plugging in the hose. Various companies make air tool oil.

I put a few drops of air tool oil once in a while. There is no marking on the front. It listed to have 540 lbs of torque when I bought it. Someone else posted saying that this company made them for Sears along with a few other brands. Matco was one of them along with Aircat. Made by Florida Pneumatic.

CP used to list to use motor oil for hammer case, air tool oil only goes through motor as anvil case has seals.

Well today I removed the small allen screw beneath the bottom of the anvil. I pushed the small allen wrench inside and found that there is no oil inside. So without a manual, I grabbed the bull buy the horns and managed to get about 10 drops of 30 weight inside. I have no idea of the capacity but only time will tell.20230119_151702[2].jpg20230119_151730[1].jpg

CP did make Craftsman brand impacts back in the 70s. The one I have still had the CP logo on the housing. I heard these were made in Japan.
