Do these hog rings need bigger pliers?

Doing a little auto upholstery, and I need some hog rings that have longer teeth. I need the part that actually bites in, to be a bit longer than usual. So I found these on Amazon, but I can't tell if you need larger hog ring pliers to use them:

Normally you see smaller hog rings being sold with a set of pliers like this:

Just wanted to ask someone with more experience if there's any difference, or if the pliers usually work on all hog rings. Thanks!

Most hog ring pliers will take up to 3/4 inch

Those Dormans look to be size x5 with some googling, which should work

If you want over 3/4 inch rings, you can get bigger pliers, but they will cost some $

Not sure what "a little auto upholstery" means. I use them for crab pots and oyster floats mostly.

They are a bit more expensive but the CS Osborne ones are very nice.

I have a pair of these, which are great, and I think are Osborne made:

Good luck finding a solution.

Edit: that pliers vendor also has nice stainless hog rings, not sure you need them for your application, I definitely do.

Crabman, just out of curiosity. Do you have a toolbox of mostly stainless tools for work? I would definitely check out a thread on that.

Not tools, but lots of stainless hardware. Our place in Southern Maryland is on a creek off the Chesapeake Bay so brackish water. The crab pots and oyster floats need stainless hog rings to survive, the water eats galvanized pretty quick. Also use stainless nuts/bolts, deck screws, etc. Not sure if that would justify a thread or not.

Stainless hardware is probably not going to get anyone excited.

I just wondered if saltwater boats had special tool kits.

Hog rings are typically used in auto upholstery. Especially older vehicles, but I've seen them used some in newer stuff too. They help keep the seat covers cinched down tight to the seat frame.
