Hi folks,

We have a baby on the way, prompting me to go through my tools and decide if there’s anything I can give up to make some space.

I came across this item that I think I got from an old neighbor: Athol Manufacturing Co dividers or spanners?

First question: what do you call these and what is their use?

Next questions: any idea of age and what these are worth?

If anyone is interested in buying, feel free to PM me.

Thanks!714B92E7-4505-4FE6-8E99-10D3800B05DC.jpegD7BB4FF9-4D75-4C11-86A2-410F4AE4EEE1.jpeg76FE7192-F6E3-4B61-9EDD-48227A8503DE.jpeg

Those dividers must be considerably bigger than I'm used to if they're going to leave enough room for your imminent newborn.

Ha ha. It is definitely not the bulkiest item I’m thinking of getting rid. Just thought I’d ask about here since I don’t see myself using them.

Nice dividers. I use mine frequently, not just for drawing circles but also laying out other things.
You can lay out hole patterns along an edge or around a circle by guessing a measurement with the dividers, walking them along the work, and the tweaking the divider adjustment until you get the number of points you need. No need for a calculator, that's why they're called dividers. Much easier than marking off odd intervals on a tape measure. Try this and you may want to keep it, doesn't take much space. With multiple sets of dividers you can leave one locked to one measurement while using another set for another measurement.
Babies are great, I have five ages 8 and under. Congratulations.

Thanks, I watched a YouTube video about laying out woodworking projects with dividers and am sold on keeping them!
