I repaired 3 different cars in a row and got shut down by the city for running a business. Sad thing was I did it all for free for friends.
Most I ever made on that deal was a home made apple pie.
I didn't want to start a shop and that proved it would be a hassle to do it from home.
Welcome, still hot in Florida huh. I heard on the news tonight there is a chance of snow for us on Wednesday. My weather man can just bite me.
What kind of projects you thinking about?
Welcome
I had been lurking around the corner for a while and recently just started posting as well.
Looks like I am halfway between you 2. Maybe closer to indy but still in the middle.
You might try talking to your local car dealer. They do dealer trades and buy cars at auctions all the time and usually have a couple of retired guys do the driving for them.
Maybe you could send them down there with a truck and trailer and haul it for you.
Might give you a little more control...
I have a lot of different push sticks that I use for different circumstances, but it seems like it's always that one time that will get you.
Looking at the pictures linked by slickgt1 some look interesting and some look like they would be a hassle to setup and I would be the type not to screw...
Thanks jhall I just looked into that gripper and I like it a lot. I always run things past the CFO first but it should be an easy sell. Cheaper than a trip to the ER.
I have been in shops with them on the walls and you get good light but it does seem to always be right in the eyes.
I would definitely second the multiple switches idea and some good diffusers over the lights, that makes a lot of difference.
The saw is setup fine it was just a dumb a$$ attack on my part. It was a little 1 1/2" block and it cocked into the rip fence. Sad thing is, I wasn't even using the fence at the time, I just left it a little to close. After I got done dancing and swearing I moved that party to the miter box...
I was trying to put the finishing touches on our backyard project today and got a friendly reminder about respect from my table saw.
Kind of got in a hurry and had a small wood block jam between the blade and the rip fence. I guess I can't say it jammed in there, it didn't stay long enough for...
I organized my garage boxes once. I made it match my work boxes. Tried something a little different at home and found I was always searching for stuff so I fixed it PDQ.
The builder sheet rocked and painted both of my garages and I was sure I would hate it. Turns out it's not so bad and if it does get scuffed up it would be easy enough to repair. Mine is 10 years old and still looks pretty good.
As far as insulation I would recommend blown in in the attic. Just...
Thanks for the welcome.
I live about 10 miles from Lafayette. Been here a little over 10 years now.
Still bending wrenches 50-60 hours a week. Keeps the lights on I guess.
Wood working is just a hobby. I mostly build furniture just for my use. Figured if I started selling it that it would...
I stumbled on this site a couple of days ago and have kind of been lurking ever since.
My first thoughts were I don't have anything to add here and the more I read the more I think maybe this is what I have been looking for.
A little background info. I have been a mechanic for the last 30...
