That's what I did. I used an Ernst rail clip and cut down the rail grip part as best I could. It isn't perfectly out of the way, but it worked for what I needed.

You can rotate the bezel and use the pin inside to drag the pointer back to the front if you wish. Or you can move the bezel to where zero is where the needle points at rest. Or you can move it to whatever reading you'd like and "torque to zero" if that is preferable to you. The user manual...

I like the Precsion Instruments manufactured Torqometers. They look fancier than they need to.

Like Dom says, it probably is a factory error. The 8" long 3/8" drive torqometers max out at 300 lbin. A 150 lbft torqometer is uncommon, but would be 1/2" drive in a 13" or 16" frame.
