AC unit setting of smoke detectors (not from dust)

So I have this problem with an air conditioner on the same circuit as hardwired smoke detectors. when the compressor cycles off, the resulting voltage spike causes hardwired smoke detectors to go off. what I have narrowed it down to is the spike is inducting to the interconnect com wire (the...

Does anyone still use the Snap-on red brick mt2500? cartridge programming?

So I have lots of aging fuel injected domestic 90s- early 00s vehicles.. the MT2500 serves them well. I know it, I like it.. I've had no reason to upgrade it. Then of course.. The woman has to upset things, with her 2005 Nissan Z with an airbag light, and my poor mt2500 with its only to 99...

Structural engineers that don't **** in Massachusetts?

So I have a barn garage, built in 1924. I'm looking to redesign the roof trusses to free span 20' I have called about 6 structural engineers, have been bounced to voicemail on all but 1 and not a single one has called me back. I've tried to stay local to my area (central western Mass) but...

Craftsman 2hp twin piston (devilbliss) letting tank pressure onto compressor head

My cheap spirit would love that.. but the snap ring is rust welded to the poor thing.. its just too rusted I think... I bought a new one... thanks for all the help folks! :)

Craftsman 2hp twin piston (devilbliss) letting tank pressure onto compressor head

It has a snap ring.. think I can rebuild it lol? so I'll be the first to admit I don't drain the tank much.. but hey this things from 1978ish guess its time to buy a new one, and drain the tank more often...

Craftsman 2hp twin piston (devilbliss) letting tank pressure onto compressor head

So it started, I thought I needed reed valves, the compressor would build up pressure, then kick off, the compression release would just continually release ALL the pressure and when the motor kicks back on, it tries to fight tank pressure and pops the breaker.. I assumed oh its just leaky reed...

    engine hoist on a truck?

I had one of those hoists welded to a jet ski trailer to take them on and off. I'm amazed at how spindly looking they are for what they're rated for. its what makes me think this idea will be more than adequate. I also have a large winch, that will more than likely also be used in this...

    engine hoist on a truck?

just swapping the arm around so the legs point backwards and bolting it to the 4x4 wood flatbed crossmembers that are bolted to the frame, also thinking of running two safety chains that run from the pivot of the arm, to the frame of the truck roughly. aiming to move some 1k-1500lb boulders to...

This old garage! advice on structural stuffs

So, my garage is creeping up on 100 years old. built almost entirely of 2x4 rough sawn. and entirely out of wood. presumably the concrete floor was added later, who knows when.. anyways, I have an issue with a support column, it looks like the concrete is lifting, and also the beam is...

wooden rack / ramp thing for atv storage, pictures and ideas needed...

no neither do, thought about a 110 winch bolted to the rack, but really don't want to spend $150 on one, because really it doesn't get used that much so I find it hard to justify spending any more than $20 on a hand crank, plus the heaviest one is like 300 lbs so really don't need much...

wooden rack / ramp thing for atv storage, pictures and ideas needed...

Hi folks! Going to be letting the sawdust fly tomorrow to build some shelves and racking for parts storage, and store a sport ATV on top of another one. plan is build it like a 4 post storage lift, that doesn't lift, just is with a removable ramp leading to the top storage rack, and a crank...
