Sorry I should've been more clear. I'm not painting the garage door itself but the unfinished drywall and ceiling. The garage track is mounted to the ceiling and was wondering if it's safe to unbolt this to paint, or should I just not mess with it and paint the brackets or mask them.

I've got to ask when painting ur garage did u just mask the garage door tracks/mounting rails prior to painting? Or uninstall to get a cleaner paint job. I'm going to be painting my garage soon and have been pondering this question.
