    Shopping for an air compressor

My 5 hp 60 gallon compressor shot craps Saturday. It's beyond repair and parts are not available. Looking for a good value for a hobbyist body shop. Ingersoll and Quincy come to mind but seems the box stores have some attractive deals as well. Opinions?

    Concrete cutting

Anybody have experience widening garage door openings? My 28 x 28 x 11 garage has a pair of 9 x 7 and I'd rather have 10 x 8. The framing is straight forward. Have a 18" tall by 8" thick concrete stub wall that would need to be sawed through and ground to match the surface contour of the floor...

18' slider on a pole barn-center stabilizer question

OK time to start a new thread. I posted earlier about building a wooden threshold under the door of my Morton building. Looks like we'll now be pouring a concrete threshold under the 18' slider and pouring a concrete floor inside the building. Need opinions about the in ground stabilizer in the...

    Sliding barn door threshold/cill

Been a lurker here for a while and finally have something to post. Just purchased a property with a couple of small Morton buildings. The smaller building has three 10' sliding doors. The larger building has an 18' slider and three 9' sliders. The 18 footer has a stabilizer in the ground in the...

    be your own general contractor

I've done plenty of work using myself as my own general contractor. It's a great way to save a few bucks but you're in for some work. In my experience, everything that has ever been screwed up was because of my absence. Nothing, and I mean nothing will ever be done under my responsibility...

Ideas for a 30x40 pole barn build

Sounds like you are in a pretty development friendly area. I'm planning to move to a place like that someday soon. Enjoy your build!

    City revokes my building permit

You had the required building permit in hand when construction commenced. You did the right thing by meeting with the mayor. I can't see that the city has a leg to stand on. Around here the city attorney gives the final OK to any permit and is responsible that what is to be built follows...
