    Yost vise

Anyone know anything about the Yost cast iron vises? See them at Northern tools for around $100. Any opinion as to quality? I don't really need a top notch one. Just occasional use in a garage. Are these American made? Any comments welcome.

Electric unit heater recommendation - 900 sq ft

I just installed a farenheat 7500 watt in my 750 sq ft garage. medium insulation. So far it will maintain 60 to 65 degrees setting it just above the low setting. Live in Iowa, can get very cold. I believe you will find with most of the comments on this, that with today's propane prices...

    Fahrenheat FUH54 Mounting

That's a good question.. I'd probably have never thought about it. Any plumbers out there?

    Just installed Farenheat FUH 54

I set the dial to one notch below the LOW setting last night. This morning the inside temp is 41 (outside 29),, so that's good. Medium setting keeps it at 64. So far so good. Now I just need to hold my breath until the next bill comes. May end up just turning it on when I want to work...

    Fahrenheat FUH54 Mounting

I just mounted mine. I had no issues with spacing, but I believe I did see a diagram in the instructions that show the clearances. Next time I go out the garage I'll verify and get you a page number.

    Just installed Farenheat FUH 54

Update, it's about 35 degrees outside today. Just checked and its about 60 degrees in the garage. Been letting it run on low for about a day. But my question is, it appears that even running on low, it appears to be running constantly. I'm considering adding some radiant type heat, maybe...

    Just installed Farenheat FUH 54

That's what I'm hoping for. Got a small torpedo heater. Going to crank it up tomorrow for a couple of hours. Try to at least get the slab warmed up a little. Do you mind me asking about what it costs to run full time?

    Just installed Farenheat FUH 54

Just got this installed yesterday. I started it up this morning and letting it run til tomorrow. Been checking on it every few hours. 50 degrees in Iowa today, but it has been extremely cold the last couple of weeks. Garage is 750 sq ft, moderate insulation. So far not to impressed...

    New guy

Thanks everyone. The calculator shows that LP would actually be more than electric. Almost twice as much than gas. Gas is not an option for me due to the cost of running the pipe ($2000 +) and the cost of installing a heater. I can do electric for about $600. so it looks like electric

Yes, exactly. I could use the 100 lb tanks, but I would need to haul them in to get them refilled. Not crazy about doing that.

If I'm interpreting my bill correctly. Electric is 0.09 per kwh and gas is .62 per therm. I guess to simplify my question, gas or propane is not an option. would electric be comparable to either the gas or propane? I've heard that electric runs about 20% higher, which would be...
