Anyone know anything about the Yost cast iron vises? See them at Northern tools for around $100. Any opinion as to quality? I don't really need a top notch one. Just occasional use in a garage. Are these American made? Any comments welcome.

Can you give me a link to the specific vise your looking at? Like most companies, Yost offers a few different line ups.

I own a like-new Yost 32C that I picked up off Craigslist for $60 bucks. But I'd take old iron any day.

I just bought a Yost 32C from a member here and I love it. With that said, when I was looking another member here pointed me in the direction of this company:

http://www.tektontools.com/All_Tools/Clamps_Vises/Vises

They sell vises at good prices, but cover them with a LIFETIME warranty. Had I not found the Yost I can guarantee you this is what I would have bought. You can't beat that warranty at that price.

Hope that helps!

The Yost website will show which are made in the US. If you e-mail or call them, you'll probably get Ryan who can explain the differences between the ones you're looking at.

Import. The cheapest USA vise they make is their reversable jaw models at +/- $300. Otherwise you quickly go north of $500 for any other USA ones.

Thanks for the help. I was hoping to get something American.. I'll look around some more at the used ones.
