Mr Heater 80k with horizontal vent question

I am installing an 80k btu Mr Heater in my pole barn. I decided to vent horizontally to avoid the "smoke stack" look through the roof. I purchased the horizontal vent kit from Mr Heater for this unit. The pipe is stainless steel with gaskets formed at each end, but I do not believe it is...

    Pole Barn Addition

Town inspector not available yesterday...will keep trying. I would not be building in this weather, I would wait until spring/summer when it warms up to avoid the cold vinyl issues. Thanks

    Pole Barn Addition

Sorry...I should have mentioned that the existing building is vinyl sided and shingled to match the house. The addition will also be sided and shingled (hoping to reuse the siding that is currently on the wall that I want to add on to. I plan to call the town inspector today to see if he can...

    Pole Barn Addition

Existing trusses are 2x4's. Are you suggesting something like this? The trusses sit directly on the header(s).

    Pole Barn Addition

Not sure if I can live with the height difference... I am pretty limited on distance to property line on that side of the building, and am trying to get the widest addition I can without needing a variance. Ultimately, I would like to use the existing header (or beef it up if need be). Thanks...

    Pole Barn Addition

Forgive my ignorance...are you suggesting to add another header (2x12 like existing) to the outside of the sheeting? The building is plywood and vinyl siding. What is the best method of attaching the new rafters to the new "sistered" header?

    Pole Barn Addition

I have officially ran out of space in my 32X48 pole barn. I am thinking about adding a 12X40 addition off one side of the building for cold storage (tractor, implements, kids bikes, etc.). The current building has a 12 foot ceiling, with 4/12 pitch roof. Laying out the poles is pretty...

What to do with extra insulated wire

Thanks for the ideas...I am going to look into donating to Makers, as alwaysfloored suggested.

    Yes, it is stranded.

What to do with extra insulated wire

I bought a 3 drawer file cabinet, and it arrived full of copper wire. I have about 50' of very heavy duty, flexible 4 conductor wire...but have no use for it. Is it worth anything? Should I scrap it...or just toss it in the trash? Thanks in advance

Hanging a hood on the wall

I have 3 hoods on my wall, all mounted using french cleats. I also used a french cleat to hang a mantel above the fireplace. I simply used my circular saw and a straight edge to make the cut at a 45 degree angle. It did not go all the way through the 2x4 (or 2x6 for the mantel), so I flipped...

    Lift Repair---HELP

Carriage had to be removed when I repaired mine. Not a horribly difficult job...I just laid the column on the side and slid the carriage out. The worst part was adjusting the cables at re-assembly. I think it took me 2-3 hours total to replace mine.

    Easy wall stripe?

I agree...tape and paint. Make sure to paint over the tape to seal it to prevent bleed through. I just did about 180 feet of striping...hopefully I will never have to do that again.

    Opinion on paint scheme?

Not sure what I am going to do with the lift. When I finally get around to doing the floor, I will pull the lift out, clean it and paint it. Haven't picked colors for that yet.

    Opinion on paint scheme?

I am happy with the 12' because it gives me enough room to lift a car to full height. I'm not real please with it in the corner with the loft because it leaves only 55" of headroom. Its a storage loft so it not a big deal, but it would have been nice to be able to stand up when on top. Thanks...
