    Loft

Thanks, everyone. Yes, it's going to be 8 to 10 ft. wide by 20 ft. long. The ceiling itself is a good 15 ft. high so I have plenty of height to work with. The back wall blocks while the sides are covered in metal. It was a huge warehouse that was chopped up into bays usually for storing RVs...

    Loft

I don't own the building but he said it was ok. I'm assuming you mean joist hangers.

I was thinking of just setting the joists on top of the beans.

    Loft

Ok, What if I put a post at 3 ft. on each side? That would leave a span of 14 ft. I'm not putting a lot of stuff up there and definitely not heavy. I don't have a good way of getting up there anyway. I'll have to figure out some sort of steps or a pulldown ladder. I plan on using 2x6s on top of...

    Loft

    Building material question

Ok, this helps. Then you'd still have to add insulation costs to the pole barn.

    Building material question

Ok guys .Ive searched this forum and couldn't find any info. Just wondering what to build my new shop out of. Should I use block or build like a pole barn? I'm asking both price comparison as well as heating efficiently. I know I'll have to insulate the pole barn. Has anyone got some numbers? Thanks

Very nice mark. By the way. What are the dimensions of the doors? How big is the shop?

    shelving

Wow I didn't realize Home Depot carried so many different shelving units. Thanks guys If it's not too expensive I think I may just build the size I need from 2x's and plywood. That way if I decide to move I can just load it and go. No disassembly.

Yes.I'd rather build myself as well. Any good shelving plans out there? I'd very handy with tools so that's not an issue.
