No posts on the back wall. Tied floor joists into ledger board across the back with hangers. Im holding off until its all completed before i start adding new projects. If i dont I will never finish it:lol_hitti
Thank you! It is coming along. Ive got trim work and need to finish out loft and 1/2 bath. My compressor/boiler room will be insulated as well to keep the noise down. Ive got enough room to pull under the loft to work on the lightning. I can even make a temp spray booth and keep all the...
Been awhile.... Here are some more pics of progress. Fully insulated and OSB on the walls. Went with 14x48 loft. I used 15- 2x12x16' together to make my beam with 2 support posts spanning 48'. Sat the floor joist on top of the beam and it is solid. Feel like i could park a car up there...
Its rather inexpensive to build up. Go 16' sidewalls and you can put a loft across back for storage, office, man cave. Cheapest extra sqft you can buy.
Ive got a 8x16 and 8x20 subfloor on opposite ends of my house built up above my insulation and can stand up in the middle. Great use of other wise wasted space. Cheaper than a basement or taking up a storage shed in the backyard.
Loft will be 45x14. 2x10 joists 16" oc. 2 posts would be fine bit If theres a reasonable cost steel beam with no posts required I would rather go that route. Its not going to be used for heavy storage. Home office/pool table etc
Any experts with steel beams. I'm looking for cost and size of a steel beam to span 45' or 36' depending on where I place my loft. Any estimates on per foot costs and what size I need to span this distance?
You will be surprised how cheap it is to build up... I would go 16' sidewalls and plan for a loft one day. Lots of extra sqft for a good value. or you could go 14' sidewall with scissor truss and still have room for loft with plenty of head room.
Thank you... It was well thought out and planned. i wish the ditch running behind it allowed me to go 12' deeper. Couldve ran a loft across the back without worrying about supports getting in the way.
:lol_hitti I hope to get it painted sometime in the next year. Still have alot of work to do on garage so its sitting in storage. I like your build... great use of space by building up. My L is stock with 89k miles. No rust ever just the faded 93' non clear paint I got tired of buffing out...
