    Tools of Japan

The poster arrived new in the mail and I had it laminated. It shows wrinkles due to shipping. I am fine with the wrinkles. For anyone thinking about a poster like that, I recommend a ridgid/solid chart opposed to a paper poster. I have seen paper “USTool” posters in tool cribs and I like their...

    Tools of Japan

Hi GJ, To close out an old question, the KTC oil cup wrench does fit a Toyota Rav4. I took a gamble and bought one. The KTC 64 mm filter actually measures 65.2 mm, so it fits and I am happy. Saw a squirrel run into the shed this morning and thought I would add that picture too haha Thank you...

Recommend scan tool for Toyota Rav4 Hybrid

That is useful story and thank you for sharing. I read a portion of the linked info, it is 80+ pages long. I agree the official Toyota tech stream software is hands down the best, but only required when a nonstandard issue occurs. For the majority of standard issues, I think a non-tech stream...

Recommend scan tool for Toyota Rav4 Hybrid

This is a unique idea and thanks for pointing this out DSEng. I checked the official Toyota Techstream pricing structure and it is 2 days for $30.00 or $105 per month or $580 per the year Out of curiosity, I also did a search to see if they make an OBD2 cable to connect to an Ipad and I...

Recommend scan tool for Toyota Rav4 Hybrid

Appreciate the insight Andy and I will take that into consideration! "The Innova gave me human understandable values" For awareness, I had a car key fob made at Costco. There is a van that comes to the local Costco store once every 6 months and it was around $240 for a key fob if I recall. On...

Recommend scan tool for Toyota Rav4 Hybrid

That's good advice buck not getting bidirectional control until it is needed. "Everything I'm going to recommend here has lifetime free updates" Thanks Andy! Good to know, I will read about different models above. My main goal to use the scan portion for the Toyota specific alerts that come...

Recommend scan tool for Toyota Rav4 Hybrid

Good idea on the videos Wizard, I will check those out. I will read about their offering too. I see a bunch of reviews. Thank you for the recommendation! Ok, I like "free lifetime updates" and I will read about these. Just learned "bidirectional" as in bidirectional scan tool means it can turn...

Recommend scan tool for Toyota Rav4 Hybrid

That is good to know that this has lifetime updates. I am reading about it now, my initial impression is this may not read the specific Toyota alert as my current OBD tool does not. (I am still learning about all this stuff) I do see that it is a much better OBD2 scan tool though.

Recommend scan tool for Toyota Rav4 Hybrid

Thank you for the recommendation wizard! I am reading their website now. I like that it can connect to an Ipad and it can read more than what an OBD tool can (y)

Recommend scan tool for Toyota Rav4 Hybrid

Hi GarageJournal, What do you recommend to read the check engine light code on a 2024 Rav4 hybrid with 40,000 miles? “Maintenance Required - A malfunction in the electronic control of the engine throttle or automatic transmission has been detected. Contact your Toyota dealer to have your...

Nut Drivers (new or old) show them here

My most used nut driver size on my Toyota is (drum roll) you guessed it, 10 mm I have the same Craftsman sets above from Sears. I did not want to modify one of my American made Craftsman drivers, so I picked up one from Ace hardware (nut driver is made overseas, not USA) and cut the handle down...

(Solved = F clamp with V-block) Looking for clamp to hold pipe and rectangular bar

Those pliers would also work (y) I just realized I never posted pictures of the finished project. I drilled the holes using one of the clamps with a V. Anyway, now I can pick up my workbench and wheel it around the backyard if needed. Thanks for the recommendations and now I am prepared...

(Solved = F clamp with V-block) Looking for clamp to hold pipe and rectangular bar

Thank for the HFT magnetic block suggestion, I was unaware HFT sold those. My final clamp came in the mail today. I went overboard and bought 3 different clamps. My overall opinion is I like the Kant-twist and the F clamp. The Taiwan clamp does not look like the picture as the picture shows the...

    Show your new tool arrivals

Hi Squankum, I have that same Werner stand and really like it. As a word of caution, try not to stand on the yellow plastic handle in the middle. I step on mine periodically accidentally with boots on and the plastic breaks then chips off. The rivets are still there but plastic handle is no...
